Who Gives Kudos:

Friday, January 13, 2006

I have finally uploaded 4 LO songs on our MySpace site. Listen, enjoy, write commentary, copy, share with friends - do whatever you want with them, just to spread the word. That is because first three of them come from the album "The Mother And The Enemy" and the label that released it Maquiavel Something Something didn't do shit to promote and sell it. They also didn't pay as a dime, but fuck it. We have our daily jobs and we're doing good... But it was such a waste of good piece of music not to do anything with "The Mother..." that it breaks my heart, even now, almost 5 years later.

And Maquiavel Something Something totally disappeared. They didn't answer my phones, their e-mails don't work anymore... Not that I don't know how many copies of the album - I don't even know exact list of territories where it was distributed.

Anyway, the point is I don't want to waste this album forever, I think this music still kicks ass. So the idea is to remix the shit and put it out again on some honest label. If it doesn't work, we will make the entire album available for free download on the net... isn't it a good idea?

Honestly, I had no problem finding out about and getting a hold of The Mother and the Enemy here in the U.S. soon after it was released.  The thing with unique works like this is they don't go after an existing market and really can't be excepted to sell all that well in the first place, but I have to admit a lot of people who might understand it and really appreciate it still to this day haven't even heard of it.

Another thing to remember is that if Lux Occulta were to receive wider international recognition in the future, it would generate interest in past albums among new fans.

There is a local record store that has just about all of your CDs, and they seem to be baught on a regular basis. It's a damned shame that no recognition has come to "The Mother and The Enemy." Definitly an excellent CD.

Well, best of luck to you guys in the future. I'm always hoping to come onto this myspace and find that you guys have gotten the proper recognition/funding to tour/play some gigs in the US.

There needs to be more Avant-Garde Metal.

Wow, that sucks that you got fucked like that by the label. It WOULD be a waste of totally good music, but not anymore. You are doing something about it now. Fucken death metal man.... the scene always gets shit on by it's own "brothers". This is why it is the way it is. I laughed at the whole "day jobs" part of this. Only from the irony. You seem to be quite succesful with your musical endeavours, and still... the day job. I feel this way too, yet i am not as musically successful when it comes to contributing to the underground scene with my band...... yet. This is our year to blow up in the underground. Our debut album is set to come out March 9th.

Cheers!

Man, you're right, it is a complete waste of such an awesome piece of music. I've been really getting into it, but it's pretty much impossible to obtain out here in Australia. Much fucking support though, and I'll be looking forward to "Carnival is Forever" if it ever eventuates. Avant Garde Metal for the Fucking Win!

Poor Man's Geoffrey Chaucer

Searched for The Mother and the Enemy for five years after I lost the burned CD a friend from Belarus gave me. Found it in a Virgin Megastore. I remembered the trip-hop tracks clearly, but five years of learning more about black metal made listening to the other tracks an entirely new experience.

Every time I listen, I am convinced that this has to be one of the most important steps made in metal history... but the other half of that is its ability to actually influence other musicians. Let's hope The Mother and the Enemy got into some thirteen year old genius's hands and in another five years when he's blown the world away with stunning sonic advances, he cites Lux Occulta as his catalyst.

You guys should start your own label or something.

Definitely try to put it out with a better label for the best distribution possible. If that doesn't work out free downloads sounds good to me. More importantly come to the U.S.!!!
