June was an exciting (and busy) month for us. After almost two grueling
months of rehearsals, music practice, morning fight sessions and long
weekend dress rehearsals, we finally performed in the 2009 New England
Pirate Faire in Gloucester. The show went fantastic; our music sets
were a lot of fun and the patrons really seemed to enjoy the entire
show. We also learned, once again, that performing live music outdoors
in front of a large audience isn't so easy... but it sure is a hell of
a lot of fun! How can we top such a long kick-line number during the
"Viking Song"?
We also had our first gig at All Asia in June. We were the
second-to-last band schedule but because the last band to go canceled,
we got to play an extra long set, a great treat to both us and the fans
who came out and sat around all afternoon, hanging with us and
listening to some other local bands and musicians. We also made some
new friends who enjoy the same music we do (always a plus!). Everyone
who purchased a ticket from us will get a free download of "Bromance"
once we finish a new recording of it. We have a list of everyone's
name, so no worries. We'll get it to you!
One would think we'd take a little mental breather after such a busy
couple of months, but instead we're going to take the momentum built in
June and run with it into July with two shows with good friend Davina
Yannetty and by recording new music for people to enjoy at home, car
and office.
Friday, July 17th at the Eggroll Cafe with
Davina Yannetty
110 University Ave, Lowell, MA
Show starts at 8:00pm; FREE admission, ALL AGES
This will be our third gig up at the Eggroll Cafe. It's a great,
intimate venue (awesome food!) owned by one of the friendliest families
you'll ever meet. We do a lot of open mics up here and have always have
a blast playing here. We're the first act so be sure to get there early
to grab a good seat and dinner.
Monday, July 27th at TT the Bear's Place with
Davina Yannetty and
Richard Goldman
10 Brookline St., Cambridge
Show starts at 8:00 pm; $4/door admission, 18+
This will also be our third show at TT the Bear's as part of "The Other
Side of the Bear Acoustic Series". In fact, TT's was the first place
John and I played together (not including the Salem Pirate Faire). It
was ICS's second date, if you will... We'll be opening up for two other
great acoustic acts so come for us and stick around for the rest.
You'll be in for a treat.
New Music... eventually. Now that Pirate Faire is over, John and
I will have a little extra time to start recording songs in an attempt
to put together a nice demo. First on the docket -- "Bromance". After
that? Who knows. What other ICS songs (both original and traditional)
would you like to see recorded? Drop your ideas on our wall or email us
at
IceCreamSocialDuo@gmail.co..m.
And as always, you can listen to our music and see a full schedule of upcoming ICS gigs at our
Myspace page.
Take care and hope to see you at the upcoming shows!
