Many news in the last week...
In the workshop that happened in Rio de Janeiro, at
September 09, two persons of Beirutando played some musics with the Beirut
band. To us that was a great achievement, and we were extremely happy because
they represented all the people of Beirutando and became one of our dreams to
come true in that moment.
During the show in Sao Paulo, at September 11, Zach
dedicated one of his songs to us:
(see the video at 4:30 Zach saying "This
is for Beirutando"!!!!!!)
then we met them in the backstage (http://migre.me/6TNj and http://migre.me/6V4J) and they autographed our
flyer too (http://migre.me/6UoP - with Zach
Condon writing "obrigado mes amis" – wich means “thanks my friends”,
so sweet!).
I will briefly describe a very personal view of what
happened in that day. Because as soon as after we left the backstage, I saw
that each one had an incredible story to tell, but I felt so excited after it
that I want to share what I experienced at that moment with everyone.
Some minutes before I went to the backstage to talk
with the band, one of the musicians who left that place to see a little bit the
fans, took the flyer of Beirut’s Day that I was holding. I didn’t say anything,
and when I saw, he started to autograph it. Then I went to the backstage as I
said, and my flyer continued with one of them. For a moment I felt myself a
little bit afraid because maybe I could
lost it, but when I saw I would meet the band in some seconds, I didn’t think
in anything else then.
When we entered in the backstage, the reception was
extremely hearty. Ben, the Beirut’s press agent, super excited and smiling,
announced to everyone in that room the Beirutando was there! Some musicians of
the band came and said, "Are you the Beirutando people? Ohh, Thank
you!!!". Others were a little bit shy and discrete, and when we greet
them, they also thanked us, always with a huge smile on his face. Everyone
spoke with us, being extremely courteous and modest. Zach was visibly tired,
but was also attentive as the other guys, always looking in our eyes and
listening carefully what we were talking to him.
Suddenly I saw my flyer again: the
musicians delivered it to Zach and spoke to him: “This is of Beirutando, autograph it!” hahaha... He
joked a little, autographed it, and then gave it back to me.
Then I asked Ben to talk to the group to take a
picture with everybody. After calling everyone, trying to organizing ourselves
and some attempts (some musicians of Beirut that was behind us said "abaixa"
and "get down" to Zach, and only after some seconds he understood
what was going on, hahaha), we took the so expected photo. At this point we were
all smiling and so happy, the band because they weren’t believing the tribute
that was made for them, and us because we were with them!
It was a super
relaxed atmosphere, when suddenly, the security came and took us out xD Ben said
that the group was tired and wanted that other fans have a chance to speak with
them too. Everything past so fast, but we enjoyed every second of that brief
meeting.
I venture to say that they are one of the most
sympathetic bands (with the press) EVER!
Everything that happened on this day, with all the
experiences I had with Beirutando, will be in my mind for my entire life. The
praise of the work that we had, by Beirut’s fans and by the band, left us
extremely happy, grateful, and all this are also very important to us.
Thank you so much for everybody.
Special thanks to Ben that turned this meeting into
reality.
