Last week I graduated from Harvard with a degree in government. My focus was on global health care policy, and I'd like to work in that field eventually.

For now, I'll be taking a short detour from my intended career in politics to pursue a new field. In the fall, I'll be moving to Tokyo to work in finance as a trader. I hope this job will give me an opportunity to work on my language skills and learn about international business.

I'm disappointed that I won't be in the United States for the election, but I'll be doing my best at overseas and internet activism!

^ Is he serious ? Congradulations ! Good luck in whatever you pursue. Don't become a "Condy" though. Put aside time for romance and eventually a family.

Congrats on your graduation (I feel old!). Don't forget that absentee ballot!

Check out democraticunderground.com, if you're not aware of the site, it's a blog for progressive Dems.

Good luck!

Myspace - and all of us - will follow you, as you 'follow the money.' Stay registered to vote and be sure to get those absentee/voting abroad ballots, tricky as they are.

Did you see what the 50 "Presidential Scholars" winners did today? They all signed a handwritten letter and gave it to Bush in person, opposing torture, secret "extraordinary rendition" flights to countries that do torture, and urged a return to human rights. It was a great, brave moment:

"Presidential Scholars urge Bush to ban use of torture"
WASHINGTON - President Bush was presented with a letter Monday signed by 50 high school seniors in the Presidential Scholars program urging a halt to "violations of the human rights" of terror suspects held by the United States. The handwritten letter said the students "believe we have a responsibility to voice our convictions."
"We do not want America to represent torture. We urge you to do all in your power to stop violations of the human rights of detainees, to cease illegal renditions, and to apply the Geneva Convention to all detainees, including those designated enemy combatants," the letter said. [[Caught him off guard; he simply told them "our country does not torture."]]

Please make sure you vote for Obama! Our country is run by greed. The politicians can be bought by special interest groups and it is sick. Meanwhile, about 50,000,000 have no health insurance. Those who are lucky enough to have it find that it WON'T pay when they really need it. What kind of a sick country are we living in who won't take care of it's own people?

It makes me think that our forefathers never should have pushed that tea into the harbor. If we would have been good little boys and girls and not rebelled, we would have FREE top notch universal health care! We would be able to recover from illness without the threat of getting fired at work and losing all hopes of a decent life!

Our healthcare system ranks 37 in the world. Cuba is 39. Columbia, Chile, Morocco Africa ALL out rank the USA. Canada, which you hear plenty of propaganda about here in the USA, is WAY above the USA.

I hope that you can do something here in the USA to make a difference. I might be out of the country for the election but I will for SURE put my vote in.
PEACE OUT!

Talk about a conflict of interest. Global health care and finance as a trator. Why don't you just go ask Bill Gates if there is any way you can make him some money?

I approved this because it's an unfortunate misconception. Investment banking provides capital for health care companies, biotech startups, and hospital improvements. Business in general does not have to be at odds with health care either, and in fact, provides incentives for efficiency and innovation. I'm planning on writing a blog about this specific topic.
