On my 21st birthday we opened for Cream. I had spent the day transporting a two-hundred-gallon oil drum from Ann Arbor to Detroit so that we could put a contact mike on it and Jimmy Silver would hit it on the one beat of our best song. I got it up three flights of stairs into the Grande Ballroom, by myself, and then we discovered that our amps didn't work. And when we went out onstage everybody yelled, "We want Cream! We want Cream! Get off, we want Cream!"

I'm standing there, having taken two hits of orange acid, going, "Fuck you!" It was one of our worst gigs ever.

I went back to Dave's Alexander's house with him. I was heartbroken. I thought, My god, this is 21. This is it. things are not going well.

Dave's mom served me a cheeseburger with a candle in the middle of it. The idea was to keep going and things would get better. Don't give up.

I'm 21 now. And I feel the same way. Thanks for the words of inspiration. And you're show last night at Little Steve's Fest was above and beyond anything I could have ever expected.

almost saw the ig early eighties in philly. he was way too trashed to get onth the philly stage. remainded thoguh over all these years a faithful faan. Now all these years (with no real regretss) the one I did have was nver having the chance after all those shows to really talk to him. he was my male counterpart and to this day he is still one of the greatest. i even bought that horrible movie crow 2 just to see him... other than hanging with the ANTL, i would love to really sit down and bullshit about art with my hero...I love Ya. I also saw your amazing show this past summer - at the "Little Stevens Garage Fest" After all these years - you still got it man. Its the "Raw Power". I loved the "let 'em up" shouts. Just - everybody come up on the stage. I also saw you at The Old Academy of Music on 14th street. New Years Eve. *Kiss* opened for you. You were *amazing*. I lost my mind that night. Took me years to get it back. Keep being an inspiration.
