Who Gives Kudos:

January 20, 2004 - Tuesday
Alright. I get shit for this all the time. But you can thank my A&R guy for setting up the meeting with Sum 41. But I gotta kick out of frontman Deryck Whibley's youthful zeal. He's a damn nice guy, but he's very "girls, vodka, girls, guitars, girls, vodka, " We've performed together a few times, and they'll always say, "Are you going to the after-show party, man?" And I say, "Well, no. I got a great girlfriend. It's getting late. I'm 56, guys. I gotta get up in the morning." They're a real smooth machine and I got excited by what they did, and my vocal went well. And Deryck sang beautifully on it. He sounded like a beat-up choirboy. I was impressed with how tight and efficient the band was in a recording environment and so, the door is open to future collaborations. So, PISS OFF!

I think you more than made up for it by bringing Mike Watt aboard the Stooges. Plus, you're Iggy, and you've earned the right to do whatever the fuck you want.

I don't really care who you play with, Iggy. It's fucking great just to see you.

Hey, I'm an old school punker (obviously not your level of old school) and I have to admit I once lumped those guys in with all the other new-jack-fag-punk I see on M.T.V.. But I heard their new record and it straight up sears off your ball sack hair. To all you bitter old men, give them an honest listen and judge for yourself.

Hell Steve Albini produced a Bush album. I'm sure he didn't do it for free. Who cares if people give you a little shit about it. At least they're being honest. I wouldn't want people kissing my ass for hooking up with Sum 41.

actually, i really dig that tune. Sum 41 is the only neo-pop-punk band i can give any props to.
