"Leaving Behind EP" (2009)

EP “Leaving Behind” (2009) REVIEW
A young, progressive rock/metal band Equinox comes from the capital of Serbia. It was formed in 2007 and among its major influences, it cites Dream Theater and Pain of Salvation.
"Leaving Behind" is the first promotional disc by this band, and it consists of four well-balanced compositions, which will justify the above mentioned influences, for this is exactly the point – the atmosphere is, so to speak, inspired by everything that Daniel Gildenlow and the company have been doing successfully for years.
Production is ok, everything is recorded clearly, coherently and it will satisfy the standards which this genre sets out. Musical expression of this group is without a doubt progressive, and the two mentioned bands should not confuse you or make you think we are talking about a plagiarism. Equinox possesses quite a few of the recognizable elements, although it does not exceed (rather broad) limits that progressive rock and metal genres present.
Technical aspect of performance is not in the spotlight although it is perfectly clear that these people can play. In other words, you will not lose the feeling that you are listening to a song, rather than a race with instruments and this, I would say, is praiseworthy. Beautiful melodies, quite sufficient representation of all the instruments (guitars, keyboards, and what is really rare in domestic bands – bass guitar sounds great). All of the ingredients are there.
From their biography, we gather that they are currently looking for a keyboard player and a vocalist, which is slowing them down in their efforts to present themselves, through concerts, to a domestic audience. We wish them the best of luck in this domain.
