Rabbit Hole, by David Lindsay-Abaire, is now running at the Cal Arts - Severance Theater, and you won't want to miss it!

There is a reason this play won the Pulitzer Prize, and that Nicole Kidman chose it for her first movie production project (I think her movie comes out in 2010).  The writing is simple, beautiful and intelligent, and the characters are unforgettably real, dynamic and interesting to get to know.

I have spoken with audience members after the show.  They admit that they might have been wary of the subject matter and afraid it would be depressing, but almost all of them were truly moved and entertained at the same time! It is an experience that is difficult to describe, but they all leave saying, "I'm telling everyone to come see this play."

In his review of Rabbit Hole, Donald Munro says, "Director Julie Ann Keller and her cast have a keen, measured commitment to the tone and impact of the play. And while the story itself is sad, they relish finding the gentle humor and redemptive qualities of the material. It isn't a bouncy experience, but it's worthwhile for the near transluscent quality of the prose."  And he concludes with, "This is a play about coping, and living, and with that, there's a certain amount of joy to be found within its somber parameters."

The show runs Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00, Sundays at 2:00, through February 14th, at Cal Arts Academy's Severance Theater at Wishon and Floradora in Fresno's Tower District.
