Judson Claiborne with special guests The Horse's Ha and Leroy Bach

For more info please check out Judson Claiborne in Areif Sless-Kitain's Time Out Chicago Top Live Show: Judson Claiborne

The Horse's Ha- Now calling Chicago their home; British ex-patriot Jim Elkington of the Zincs and just South of the Mason Dixon ex-patriot, Janet Beveridge Bean of Freakwater and Eleventh Dream Day have joined forces with stellar Chicago musicians Fred Lonberg-Holm, Nick Macri and Charles Rumback to create a sophisticated and compelling musical hybrid between jazz and folk. Naming themselves after a Dylan Thomas short story about Welsh Zombies, The Horse's Ha resonate with a sound infused with echoes of the iconic English folk band Pentangle, morphing into lulling Bossa Nova rhythms that find their way right back to pure pop to produce a thoroughly seductive yet challenging sound.

YeaBig+KidStatic, Psalm One, Royce plus DJ Intel
Yea Big + Kid Static is hip hop for the stationarily challenged, the soundtrack for your next dance-off, the preamble to next your coup. Yea Big + Kid Static will overcome you like a band of parkour ninjas wearing jet packs leaping over your grandmother's privacy fence to steal a pie. Yea Big + Kid Static are one part short shorts, one part cybernetic organism, all parts awesome. Yea Big + Kid Static are a comic book style action figure for all ages, ready to destroy the plastic casing and blow up the spot with the power and skill of 47 stuntmen wearing mylar battle gear. Be prepared to duck. When they're not blowing up spots, one travels the country jumping on to and flying off of buildings, while the other practices mind control techniques over a pack of designer breed dogs.

Psalm One never likes to sit in one place for too long. It makes her knees hurt, and beyond the physical discomfort it stifles her. Her music mirrors these sentiments, keeping her raps as ever-changing as the scenery. A Southside Chicago native, this rookie Rhymesayer has been raising eyebrows since 2002, with her self-released debut LP Bio:Chemistry. Released while Psalm was studying Chemistry at the University of Illinois, Bio:Chemistry was well received and served as a resume of sorts after graduating and returning home to Chicago later that year. After a powerful performance on the 2003 Nacrobats release Always (Birthwrite), Psalm went back to the lab with Chicago producer Overflo.
In 2004, bridging the gap between her previous work and her forthcoming album, she released Bio:Chemistry II: Esters and Essays (Birthwrite). It was a re-release of her 2002 debut, plus 5 unreleased tracks, repackaged and remastered. While staying diligent in the studio, her tour schedule began to become equally as busy performing on Warped Tour Code of the Cutz stage, the annual Scribble Jam Festival and B-Girl Be Summit in Minneapolis, as well as, sharing the stage with: 50 Cent, Slick Rick, Atmosphere, MF Doom, De La Soul, Camp Lo, Murs, Jean Grae, Royce tha 5'9, Diverse, Blueprint, Brother Ali, Masta Ace, Prince Paul, Casual of Heiroglyphics and many more. In 2005 she was named as on of URB's Next 100 and featured "as next to blow up" in such publications as: Chicago Tribune, Chicago Sun Times and

Royce- Were it possible for a record to push itself off its' belly and walk the earth, TUFF LOVE would be found roaming the alleys and dirt lots of Chicago on legs gilded in heartbreak. This is no chamber music album. TUFF LOVE is the undeniably infectious second full-length release from Royce. * Ruthless rhythm and backyard beats weave between intuitive, heart tugging ballads. Subtle, alluring vocals sit atop warm, glowing bass and percussive tremors that have become signature to Royce's rumble and snap sound. Once again, the bands own DJ WhiteLightning has skillfully produced and engineered a record that slips from track to track like a slab of butter on a hot griddle. Also, in the company of Galapagos4 staples Qwel, Meaty Ogre, Offwhyte, Mestizo and Robust, TUFF LOVE seamlessly shape shifts with every listen, revealing an arsenal of Chicago flavor. Continued success of their first release, "Subtleties of the Game," in addition to tours with Galapagos4 in Europe and the U.S., Royce has harvested fresh fuel for their sound. The quartet returned to the studio producing a record that captures the heart of growing up in the Windy City and reflects the bittersweet human experience at large. Amidst this alchemy of sound called TUFF LOVE, Royce continues to carve out its niche in popular music.

AIDS Wolf plus Mayor Daley
AIDS Wolf embraces the hate. If they can't draw you in, they will make you run away cursing and bitching. Their songs speak to the terminally alienated, the relentlessly negative, the inherently repugnant.
The Montréal four-piece (two guitars, drums and insane warbling) formed in early 2003, to the protestations of most of humanity. Since the beginning, they've sought to live the life: to practice complete aesthetic immersion, create music in some form every day, and live healthfully to facilitate their creative endeavors, no vacations allowed. AW greets our modern gloom with heady zeal.
AW's split LP with Night Wounds on Nail in the Coffin Records is out now. In May '08, their second full-length record, Cities of Glass (CD on SKiN GRAFT Records; vinyl on Lovepump United), produced by Weasel Walter, will prolong the bummer. They've also contributed a track to the new Bruce LaBruce film Otto, or Up With Dead People.
