Mr. & Mrs. Drew Lippert
Six months ago, we were facing foreclosure as a result of a severe slow down in our business, which had supported us for many years. We had worked hard for many years to build up our business, so when we hit hard times, and were having a hard time making our mortgage payment we asked a trusted friend and attorney what our options were if any. He said he would look into it and get back to me. One week later, I received a call from our attorney telling me to call the Lucas Law Group to see if there was anything that could be done to avoid imminent foreclosure.
Following the advice of our attorney, I called the Lucas Law Group and spoke to a legal assistant by the name of Craig Williams. After the requisite telephone consultation, we were invited to the office to meet with Mr. Paul Lucas for a more in depth review of the case. I was surprised by how honest Mr. Lucas was in describing the difficulty of getting the loan modified, but he also assured me that my case would be worked on diligently by him and his staff, and they would do their utmost to modify the mortgage payment to a more affordable amount, allowing us to avoid foreclosure and stay in our custom built home.
I admit that I knew nothing whatsoever about this “loan modification” business and was skeptical, but decided to trust in the process he described to me. During the loan modification process, which took three months to complete, my anxiety was always present. Craig told me from the start that it would take two to three months to complete the process, but as the time passed and I heard more and more bad news on television, my fear and anxiety would intensify. Craig never wavered in his confidence that the Lucas Law Center would be successful in getting our loan modified, and urged me to remain patient.
On the morning of our last conversation, I received a FedEx package from the bank offering us an interest rate of 3.85%!!! I could not believe it! After 3 months of negotiations, the bank had agreed to lower the interest rate from a rate of over 9% to 3.85%!!! Needless to say, I was thrilled!!!.
We were more than 5 months behind on our mortgage payments, and those payments were rolled into the loan and there was no down payment to make. We simply had to start making our new lower payment two months later.
