Since I haven't met most of the friends on my friends list, I feel the need to share more about myself.

When I was 17 months old (August, 1958), I contracted the virus, poliomyelitis or polio (which by the way should prove to the doubters that I am really in my 50's..).  It was at the end of the polio epidemic.  Polio vaccines were just starting to be distributed.  I was left with partial paralysis of my left leg.  So anyway, I walk with a limp and am supposed to wear a leg brace.  I use fore-arm crutches when I have to walk a lot...but other than that, I do pretty well....

I've never let this disability keep me from doing or trying anything.  I did everything any other kid did...just was a little slower...

....the only problem I have is that when I do not remain active, I gain weight faster than others...

...I had a desk job for many years and gained a lot of weight...and continued gaining until I reached around 235 lbs.........that was in December, 2007.

Well, by the end of January, I decided that I could not let myself get any bigger and had to lose the weight I had gained because for the first time in my life, I truly felt disabled!  That I could not stand for...
....So in starting February 1, 2008, I started on a very strict, low calorie diet...and you all can see the results...

....Now you all know why I've been posting a lot of pictures lately.... I am very proud of my achievement.

I encourage anyone who needs to make changes in their lives to just do it...it is never easy...but in the end the hard work and perseverance is worth it.

NOTHING WORTHWHILE IS EVER EASY!

I love all of you....it is the friendship I've found here that has really helped me to stay on track...the compliments you all pay me....I greatly appreciate them...

Love,

Debbie
