hello world.

this is kate foust- on behalf of lady

i've not been so active in the blogosphere, but i would like to announce some things to those of you who give a damn.

1. (let's get this out of the way)
some of you might know that for the past two years i've been playing full time with a very fun band called perkasie. if you dont know them you oughtta check em' out.
furthermore, my time with that band has come to an end for many many reasons. but the biggest one has to do with this old thing here....
2. (this one i'm excited for!)
if you know about me at all, you know that i've neglected playing out all the many many songs that have been written over the years. you also know that very recently this beautiful new project called lady has been born and some of those songs have been sung and played (by some fabulous musicians) for your ears to hear (to my delight). AND- i fully intend on and am now able to devote my energy to this project. these songs which bring me such joy in creating and performing, the songs that render me completely vulnerable and thus completely alive and beautiful and pure. yes, i'm getting all sappy about my art and whatnot but in my time away from this sort of expression... i've gained a new appreciation for it. i was made for it.
3. (here's a doozy... congrats if you've gotten this far!)
this transition has been easier than i thought. i think perhaps because it's almost like a homecoming to what i had intended all along so the challenge of it feels more like a labor of love. also, i've found such wonderful support from even some unexpected connections and relationships that it encourages me in my path.
and yet... there are those (who have no interest in my personal well being) who so graciously lavish upon me their "advice", two cents, disappointments, and misinformations. and to you i say: "thanks, but no thanks! life is too short!"

lessons learned (however cliche they may be)
1. change is good.
2. you can't please everyone
   a. people think what they want to, even when they know better.
3. toxic friend... ain't no friend of mine
... i'm going to stop now before i choke on my cliches and give myself away

IN CONCLUSION-
stay tuned! lady will be slowly but surely emerging with new recordings, new and old songs, shows, photos, drawings, fun things, and other fun things.

so keep checkin up and i'll be sure to infiltrate all the social media devices i can get my hands on in order to influence your listening ears.

yours truly,
kate
