Hello everyone, I've successfully reached my goal for this adventure; and that's to reach the Bahamas and the islands from Ludington, MI. It's been one hell of a journey too. Although I wouldn't do this particular trip again, I have learned a lot about myself and have learned a lot about others. I'm not going to lie; it's been hell for a long time. There's been times where we were stuck in the middle of a bay, can't see a damn thing, and I couldn't keep warm. Then there's been a time or two where we found ourselves on the downward side of a 20-something foot wave sending us toward a rocky bottom. Also, there's been several times when I sleep-deprived and ready to throw in the towel. But, I'm glad I stuck it through, and I'm glad you guys would write me and help me out whenever I needed help. I feel I've changed some, for the good or bad? You decide when we meet again. What a story this is too. Going next to an island with dozens of wild horses, swimming through reefs with fish larger than I am, and meeting the most generous people in the world; this is going to be a pretty damn amazing book. And after 5 long months, and 4,000 miles, the trip is done.
To conclude this trip, we've sold the boat to another hopeful adventurer, and bought ourselves a 1988 Ford Station wagon, much like the one on National Lampoon's Vacation (dirt cheap). We plan on taking this monster of a car to the desert, where we can't see any water for quite some time, and come back to Ludington. This is where I must face my most perilous adventure yet, get a job. It will take some time to domesticate myself again, and for those who have done anything like this, you know what I mean. I am looking forward to seeing everyone again, I almost feel like I've been in a jail-cell for 5 months with no visitation, completely isolated from the outside world; and again, I don't know if that will be a good thing or a bad thing. But do keep an eye open for my blogs. I plan on writing updates for the summer and planning the next trip this fall; sailing down the Mississippi River to Miami, to complete the Great Circle (which should be a breeze compared to this trip and much quicker. I thank you all who have helped me out and have been following along. Comment me, and message me if you have any questions.------Ryman
