We went to the "Valley of Fire" via Lake Meads lakeshore drive after crossing Hoover dam. It was a hot day! 102 part of the time, fortunately there were shady pockets amongst the rocks to rest and cool off. There were loads of Indian petroglypghs and just amazing rock formations, the sand was very fine and red, red was the color in that entire valley, a little pocket of the strangest sandstone. Also the petrified logs in one section of the valley. We had a picnic lunch and spent the day hiking and exploring. It was a GREAT! mothers day. I have posted some pics from the trip in my photos section.
