Win tickets and goody bags to the Jack Daniel's Birthday JD Set
Live: Brett Anderson, Carl Barât, Jon 'The Reverend' McClure
October 8th 2009 / Village Underground, LondonHey all!
Just a bit of Reverend news for you, and a pretty exciting competition with an amazing grand prize...
First things first: we're happy to announce that Jon is going to be doing a very special set as part of the birthday celebration for a certain Mr Jack Daniel.
The Birthday JD Set is the culmination of a month of celebrations that take place throughout September to mark Mr Jack's birthday. After a fire at the local county courthouse no-one's real sure of the exact date he was born. All that's known is it was sometime in September 1850 - so at Jack Daniel's they celebrate on all 30 days to honour the man who created their fine Tennessee whiskey, culminating in an almighty gig of rock royalty.
Jon McClure, Brett Anderson and Carl Barat will each perform a series of exciting, one-off collaborations with the New Silver Cornet Band - a group of hugely talented session musicians from Jack's homestead Tennessee including David Hood, founder of the Muscle Shoals Sound Studio and Wayne Carson who wrote Elvis Presley's' Always on My Mind'. This band was formed in celebration of the original Silver Cornet Band created by Mr. Jack back in 1892, thus continuing JD's long standing love and support of music.
And the best thing is, you can win a chance to go along. It's an invite only party, but there's a pair of golden tickets here!
The prize also includes a goodie bag of JD stuff, and some extra surprises. Entrants must be legal 18+ drinkers with valid ID, it's open till September 25th.
