Current mood:  sad
I'll be writing something long (probably way too long) about my good friend, Chris Gaffney, in the days ahead. In the meantime, I just wanted to thank everyone for their generous support and kind words for both Chris and the Hacienda Brothers. It's a great thing to know that Chris and his music touched so many lives. I am so happy to have been a part of that for the last five years. This took me by surprise. Perhaps it shouldn't have, but it did. I think it will take all of us quite awhile to get through this, but we will. In the meantime, keep the music playing, think of some funny stuff (probably something Gaff did) and for Chrissake, be good to each other. I think that's probably what Gaff would have wanted.

Stay strong Dale. If you need to get your mind off it, I'm around. Give me a buzz & we can grab a drink somewhere.

Wait a minute...what??? Not really...no, it just ain't right. Passing??? I am shocked. I was under the impression that however gravely ill, there was tremendous hope. I must have missed something. I am so sad and sorry and well, no words come just now. We will never again witness the magic of the Hacienda Brothers. Only something that could bring me such incredible joy could bring me such indescribable sorrow. I was so lucky to see/hear this incredible music. It's a sad note.

Hi Dale
It's unbeleivable how quickly this happened. What a sad, sad thing - no more Gaffney. You know how much I love the Haciendas, so please pass the word around that my heart is with you guys, and all the extended family.

Can't wait to hear your funny stories. I'm so sad and I only see you guys 2ce a year, but I feel like we're close. You bros always make your fans feel that way, and that could be one of the reasons why you have such an outpouring of support. I feel lucky to have danced to his songs, put a few down with him, and shared a laugh or two. Accordian to me, he was Tops.

Dear Dale,

I am very sorry to hear it. For his family to lose him, for you to lose a friend and for the band to lose such a talent and a great voice, it must be tough on everyone.

The music he left behind will last and will continue to have a positive effect on people.

I turned a very close family member of mine on to the Hacienda Brothers a while back and she clung to the first two discs through a pretty tough break up that she was going through. She found solace in the sad songs and strength in the ones with attitude and humor. I guess my point is that music made from the heart has an everlasting value and it does make people's lives better.

Gaffney's music will continue to do that and that is a great legacy.
