From time to time, we all experience one of those enlightening moments of musical discovery - something that shapes our personal tastes forever. Maybe it was going to your first ever gig or perhaps the first ever record you bought? Whatever it may be, we remain happily indebted to those unforgettable, inspirational moments of musical salvation that change our lives forever. Hearing Hank Williams on the radio for the first time was certainly one of those unforgettable moments for me. Here was music that sounded sincere - the heartfelt pining of an ordinary man from a bygone era who sang openly about the troubled life he led. That scratchy yodel of 'Long Gone Lonesome Blues' will stick with me forever.

Who knows what Hank would've made of today's hectic musical arena - after all, the 'long player' record wasn't even around in his day, let alone digital file sharing! However, no doubt he would be thrilled to know that his songs have stood the test of time. In fact, anyone who has had their heart broken at one time or another might well emathize with the notion that 'Hank Williams Saved My Life'.
