I'VE BEEN DOING THIS RAP THING FOR MOST OF MY LIFE. I LOVE HIP HOP. I LIVE IT EVERYDAY. ALL DAY LONG I THINK HIP HOP. GO TO SLEEP AND I DREAM HIP HOP. I DREAM WORDS AND GET UP AND WRITE THEM DOWN. IT'S IN MY BLOOD. BUT LATELY I'VE BEEN THINKING TO QUIT THIS GAME. NOT STOP MAKING MUSIC, BECAUSE I DONT THINK I EVER WILL STOP. I LOVE IT TOO MUCH. BUT I AM TIRED OF DEALING WITH THIS FUCKED UP INDUSTRY WE HAVE IN BARBADOS.

TIRED OF TELLING  THESE YOUNG ARTISTE TO KEEP DOING WHAT THEY DO AND SOMEDAY SHIT WILL HAPPEN. SOMETIMES IT SOUNDS LIKE IF I AM JUST PUSHING THEM IN THE FIRE TO BURN TUH FUK UP.
ONE GIRL I MET TOLD ME THAT IF WHAT SHE SEES IS WHAT ITS ALL ABOUT, THEN SHE WILL NOT RELEASE HER MUSIC IN BIM. EVER!! AND SHE IS A DAMN GOOD ARTISTE.

TIRED OF THESE FUKKED UP PROMOTERS THAT WANT TO PAY YOU WHAT THEY THINK YOU SHOULD GET.  BUT THEY CAN PAY JA ARTISTE BIG $$ AND THEIR OWN SMALL CHANGE. YOU THINK ANY BAJANS GETTING MONEY IN JA? THE PROMOTERS MAKE LOADS OF MONEY OFF OF US. THEY CAN QUIT JOBS AND MAKE MONEY OFF US. WHILE WE STILL GOT TO KEEP A DAY JOB. IM TIRED OF THE RECORD STORES THAT MAKE MORE MONEY OFF YOUR ALBUM THAN U DO AND NEVER WROTE A FUKKIN LINE. JUST SO I CAN SAY IT SELLS IN YOUR STORE? ALL THAT MEANS IS I AM ON THE STREETS 100% WITH MY SALES.

TIRED OF THESE DJS ON THE RADIOS PLAYING EVERYTHING ELSE AND  NOT GIVING THEIR OWN A PROPPER SPIN. TWO WEEKS AND THEY FORGET ABOUT YOU. THEY DONT EVEN LOG THE TWO DAMN SPINS. THEY LOVE EVERYTHING BUT THEIR OWN. I THOUGHT THE ROLL OF A DJ WAS TO ENTERTAIN HIS LISTENERS AND BREAK NEW ARTISTE AND RECORDS? NOW ITS ALL ABOUT PLAYING THAT SONG EVERY OTHER DJ PLAYS IN THIS WORLD. NO HIP HOP ARTISTE CAN SAY THAT OUR DJS GO BACK AND PLAY OUR RELEASED MUSIC AGAIN. THEY ALWAYS WANT NEW MUSIC. BUT EVERYDAY I HEAR OLD DUB PLAYING.
WELL I GUESS I WILL BE BLACKLISTED FOR THAT COMMENT.  LOL!

TIRED OF THESE PRIDE LACKING FUKKERS.

TIRED OF THE HATING ASS ARTISTE THAT BAD TALK YOU ON A REGULAR SO THEY CAN GET AHEAD. SO CALLED FRIENDS!!!
TIRED OF THE BULLSHIT PEOPLE IN POSITIONS THAT ONLY PUSH BULLSHIT ARTISTE IN THE FACES OF A&RS AND LABEL EXECS AND THINK THEY KNOW IT ALL. TIRED OF THE COST AND THE FUCKED UP SPONSORS AND CORPORATIONS THAT THINK HARD TO HELP. BUT WOULD LOVE YOU TO SELL THEIR PRODUCTS.

TIRED OF PEOPLE TELLING YOU HOW YOU SHOULD MAKE MUSIC. IT'S MY MUSIC, NOT YOURS ASSHOLES!!

I LOVE HIP HOP BUT I HATE THIS GAME!!!!!

WHAT I AM TRYIN TO SAY IS IF YOU HAPPEN TO MISS ME IN THIS GAME, ITS BECAUSE I FEEL TO QUIT. I BELIEVE IN WHAT I DO AND I KNOW I'M A KING AT THIS. IT'S NOT A NEGATIVE THOUGHT, ITS A BRAIN THAT TOOK TOO MUCH AND CANT SEEM TO TAKE ANYMORE OF IT. I BELIEVE THIS YEAR IS MY LAST. SORRY!

Well said Zay well said. To be honest its alot of politics and shit in this game in bim. Just look at the so called Barbados Music Awards...its as big a sham and falacy anyway right now Zay an A&R for from England wants my demo ppl in germany sayin my shit is hott but i just dont even feel to release my shit in Bim cuz i know how it is. You call to request a local tune and its like you asking them to lend you money or sain. i usually just release my tunes wit Hurricane and Teisha cuz they play my shit so big up to them especially hurricane.. but u see the other station waste of time takin ur cds there. Right now my current single only released on Mixx 96 and i really dont feel like takin it elsewhere cuz the situation wit local music just pathetic b. i int tootin my own horn but anybody who know me and my music knows i got more talent than half these niggas i hear on my radio .. how the ass u can play a song like Crank Dat by soldier boy and leave our own in the dark that song has no production value no lyrical content nothin, only quality it got is that it play on BET we are followers and our dj's do what they see other doing... they SUCK ASS!!! The other night i performed at the open mic session at Brady's and you kno who came up to me and tell me that the performance was great... some of the best stuff he seen in Bim since he arrived??? An american guy and his girlfriend while the bajans barely wanted to clap.. thats just how it is b and if ya aint strong you would give up but word to those who really wanna do this ..keep ya head high love what ya doin and ignore the detractors..chart ya own path and dont let no one tell you which direction to travel on ur road to stardom... Ya boy B-Roca say so ya dig!!!!

Well said, well said.

It is surprising to me that you say Bajans don't like their own.
I thought it was only here in T'dad

1) Here in Trinidad, radio DJ's do the same blasted thing, playing rap, hip hop, r&b, and every other lame thing except calypso and soca. Now I love my hip hop, but I am from the Caribbean man gimme something to wine to!! ;) If they do play the soca, it's for 25 minutes that they talking through for about ten minutes, then they going straight to commercial break without even bigging up the artistes. Talk about loving up your culture.

2) When DJ'S do choose to play local music, it's only certain artistes who are on their roster. WHY IS THAT? Everybody has to eat a food man!!! So what I must starve and the rich men in the industry getting richer? That is no fair.

3) Another problem I have: we in the Caribbean need to support each other's culture!! About 3 or 4 years ago, Trinidad's very own Bunji Garlin got booed off stage in Jamaica because they thought he was trying imitate them.
In case you didn't know, here in T'dad there is something called ragga-soca - a mixture between dub/reggae and soca!!! No offense my Jamaican peoples, but get with the times!!

Zay, keep on keeping on. It would be sad and disappointing if you decide to stop because of a few cocksuckers. A handful of people hating you, but a "seven nation army got you down". Plain talk, bad manners.

Yea I get what you mean. Bunji is a hard ass artiste. I have nuff respect for him man. One of the few in the Caribbean I want to work with. Jamaicans feel that they are the only ones that should make Reggae. Open yuh eyes!!! the whole world is making it. Feel proud that people like it enough to make it. Spotrusherz Down in T&T doing Hip Hop as well. Them is my peoples. We all got a hard task. But what the others in the industry don't understand is that in order to make it in this game we need support. Not the 'Buy my cd support only' but we need to have support all across the board. Everyone that plays a part in this industry have to play their part. Now if you don't have a clue what your roll is then we ain't going nowhere fast. Sometimes I don't feel proud at all.

I feel what you're saying Zay & i wish i could add somehting positive, but the truth is i can't.

Why? Because you're not dealing with an island issue... you're dealing with a world wide problem that's been eating music {not just HipHop} for a hot minute...
I've watched you guys grow... i've watched my peeps grow & also my crew grow into worthy producers/emcees/singers etc. when you hear the same stories being told from w=so many different mouths it's gets you looking past just the music & realising that the business is the problem. DJ's in the WI are takin pages out of international DJ's books.... Promoting who they get to promote. Shafting everyone else. You only gotta look at the state of international music & who actually is doing gigs. Those peeps that you read about in mags & online forums that give you the break down of their grind & yet still they're getting hustled out their dough! It's a fucked up biz ran by people who love money more than music.

The spin is this... We have to keep going... as long as our souls will let us... With the net we have a better chance of reaching out & letting people know that it's the same all over... WI / UK / US... no different. At some point some one with some power has to take a chance... then who knows what kinda doors that will open.

I don't blame you for wanting to get out the biz... i've battled with that decision for a while & i don't hustle my music like you do... Just next time you think to quit, just take a month or two outta the loop & relax with wifey & the rest of the fam... If you feel to come back we'll all be waiting...!
but don't let these fuckers stop you.

Stay Blessed

I felt the same way 10 years ago. All i'll tell U is "DO NOT QUIT, The Darkest hour comes just before dawn"TRUST ME....I've been in it for 21 years now and i'm only now seeing the fruits of my hard labour. Makes no sense complaining cos that ain't gonna change nothing. I feel u my brother. it just takes 1 song to make a breakthru' ONE! ! Even if u got to record a ballad try it, cos after u make a breakthru, people start to listen, then bookings start to come. "Nah Goin Home" has taken me to festivals and carnivals all accorss the world, to places i didn't even know existed. So keep writing and recording and releasing. "THE DARKEST HOUR COMES JUST BEFORE DAWN". Payday soon come.

Hey T this is ya cuz talkin and you have waaay too much talent and spent waay too much time investing in this dream to just dead it so. You just have to use this to find a new way. Take a page out the independent labels books and do it yaself. We ina time now where anything can be done ONLINE. Including having your own radio station to play your own music. All you have to do is rally the troops.

You can find any number of people in any number of places going through the same thing, who wouldn't think twice to lend a hand to mek something like that happen. Just go online look at some of the sites that are using the net to broadcast and ask questions and find out how they got it done. GOOGLE IT!! lol You in a time where if you don't know how to mek a web site, or a beat, or whatever you can ask a fellow musician in Holland in South Africa in Westbubbafuk, to help you out and yall never even have to meet face to face.

Having your own station is something you CAN MAKE HAPPEN!! Get together some real nice graphics designers for the page, hook it up real ill, and most importantly , PLAY THE MUSIC PEOPLE WANT TO HEAR. Your first listeners can be the artists themselves and you branch out from there. The internet is FULL of company's big and small who want promotion anyway they can get it, so it shouldn't be that big of a prob to find sponsors. My friend started an online fashion magazine from NOTHING and in a year they were getting mentioned in all these big fashion magazines and web sites, getting invites to fashion week n all that jazz. With the internet all you have to do is have an idea, and put it out there.

You have tooo much talent man..and i seen all the stress and trouble you went and still go through to keep doing this. You have access to the world right in front of you.Take an example from Tom the dude that started this myspace thing. or the youtube thing...these things are just ideas that catered to what people want. Shit we didnt' even know we wanted it , cuz there was anyting like it yet. We all know people want good music, and the opportunity to discover NEW music. Start something NEW and put ya flavor on it, do what others are doing but do it Different. They have sites out there now that have online radio stations, find out what it is they not doing, find out why they not blowing up and then YOU do it.

Create your own Ideal radio station, for your own. You have the talent and the charisma to do it. Musicians are creators...So create a door for your music to walk through...
Love you fa life....Show Tati how we do..

Muh boy, well ah glad AND sad at de same time to hear someone else from de archipelago sayin it yes! Is ah real pressure scene to kno dat ppl all over de world feelin ur music, but ur hometown cyah even hear it properly enough to make up their minds cuz de DJs and de PPL in charge fightin down local talent like is HIV. I swear I say EXACTLY wat u jus say dey bout 4 times already n MEANT it and my crew now making 10 yrs this year! But u kno wat does happen: everytime I say dat n I start thinking bout all my other options, some seed I plant 2/3 yrs aback does come blossoming thru my window n get me all excited about making this music once again.

Tre boy, de truth as u so eloquently put it: is that we CAN'T STOP! Once de music in yuh blood and yuh veins, heart and mind, spirit and soul, its impossible to deny it even doh de BODY complaining due to lack of nourish/encourage-ment. Jah! I hear your cry my brother and I just told my crew d same thing... This is my last year fightin in d game! I gave myself til 30 to explore ALL my options n try to make my adolescent dreams come true, before I succumbed to de pressures and demands of society... I'll be 29 on June 9th!

I feel ur pain my brother and I agree with some of the comments that we need to unite in order to survive... I for one will DEFINITELY be reaching out to my Caribbean brothers n sisters over the nxt year cuz WE ALL WE GOT man!

U kno watz even worse though?
The plight of the next generation...
Because we don't get any light, they are unable to draw upon our experiences and will be influenced only by d same crap that everyone else is fed.. and even those that search beyond that will be forced to make the same mistakes and suffer as we have... because they have no better examples.

I wish I could find some young talented MC that I could help rise up, but the next generation is brain-washed by the BET sub-culture that has taken over we islands. In a sense, TEMPO has come 10 yrs too late and that's why its already succumbing to d pressures of d "powers that be".
It's all real silly, but that's our reality, aint it?

Steups

Doh worry, my brethren.. Take a lil VACA n d game will be right here waiting when u get back! Look at it this way: when dey put we down this low, de only way for us to go is UP!!!

Keep yuh head in d clouds...

Blessings Flow

2: Tuh hell wid the radio. Cuz I aint kissin no ass. Fuk Um 2!
3: I'm gonna handle my shit on my own if it kills me
4: I still aint doing no show where they dont wanna pay right. Fuk Um Big time!
5: I will take a break and come back and kill this game all over again
6: I am not doing no colabs with no dumb ass artiste (only love apply) and I know who loves!!

Whats up souljah, first of all got to big up everone who is fighting for their dreams against all odds, secondly you know im feeling what u are saying about the bajan industry. I mean everwhere has the same problem but in Bim they take lack of support to a whole new level. The government (doesn't matter which one) doesn't support or promote their art or artist on any level, and the dj's couldn't break a new record or do anything inavative if you held their hand and led them through the whole proceses. Thats why i had to drop my single in Jamaica because they respect good music, it was much easier for me to get on the radio there where i don't even know anyone because they listened to the music and liked it. In Bim where i was born and raised i couldn't even get them to listen to my music and i known alot of the DJ's personaly for over 15 years. I guess i shouldn't get angry its not their fault they are useless cowards who only know how to suck ass for a living. And i guess that was a while ago maybe thing s have changed and or changing but i doubt it. I mean i heard they didn't even blast shaky's music after his death, and he had an international buzz, the radio should have celebrated his life and accomplishments. I read a comment someone saying something about u need to make your music more commercial, thats not it at all. Even major label artist are trying to sound more cutting edge and raw (a.k.a. less comercial) You just got to find a way to connect to your audience and cut the middle men out as much as possible. Record stores are things of the past in 6 years they probably won't even make cd's anymore. I seen your video while in Jamaica, looked wicked song sounded good to. Bim needs a shake up on many levels, i hope somone does it and i hope things change because there is alot of unrecognized talent in Barbados.
So bless up keep doing your thing and here's to international succsess and putting Bim on the musical map in a big way

This is our starting block but not our finishing line. And we have not left the starting Block Yet.

1. TREZAY, TREZAY, TREZAY. You aint got to attack stations. You already got a name here. You to good for bout here, and the truth is bout here don’t do shit for you, futher more people (radio stations) only see you as some one that open the door for others that’s the truth (so you tell me if you gin keep fighting about here). Links labels, fly over there you gin put that talent to rest cause of shitty stations, managers or promoters here? You can’t give up. This is Barbados small piece of shit with arrogant people. This aint the real world of music. This is our starting block but not our finishing line.

2. What every one saying is true, true, true. But in stead of us complaining we should do something about it.

3. Biggie made somewhat a good point, but you creating lyrics to a melody that was already out there is farrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr different from someone creating “original stuff” in that same arena and trying to get out there. However you do need to create something that people is use to. You can’t keep doing the same old thing for Xamout of years and feel that things would always be the same. I’m not saying change completely, because not even superstars do it, but you have to give people what there are accustom to. But biggie right still, all you need is one good hit.

4. Bajans (radio audience) are not going to support what they are not use to. How ever it does not mean necessary they hate our music, because bajans do request our music. Bajans like “HITS” not music. Bajans only like what they are use to what station usually plays.

5. Let’s be real, a lot of artist and producers are releasing nuff SHIT and feel it tight. B-ROCA all your production is nuff cunt. ALL, you talking about A&Rs from England and Germany aint mean nothing b, Cause like a producer from England said “They are going to make your genre more “commercial” if they had to sign you (so what that telling you). And that’s the issue. Radio plays COMMERCIAL MUSIC, not just music LABELS WANT COMMERCIAL MUSIC not JUST MUSIC. But I get what you are saying. Look at whom local artist the stations are playing (and I mean on a REGULAR bases). And why they are playing it.

6. Every body wants to be like Rihanna, JayZ, Nas, Beyonce, Amey Winehouse etc, yet producing shit. Stupse Please. Compare them to us. Look at they production, don’t say you can’t put us with them you would have to be foolish to say so. It’s only comparing you see what we are doing wrong. I know they them companies got top gear and pro vocal coaches. That aint mean nothing, cause we got the same shit, It’s how we using it.

7. Fuck Radio Stations down here. Them like Politians, them does talk big and do the same shit. But at the same time they do make some GOOD POINTS. But you got to Big up Hurricane and Teshia Hinds for the they help in pushing us.

Maybe this quote will help you.

"Sometimes If you want to get something you have never had, you have to do things you have never done." You are in a game where there are no true rules. There is only one key rule.... your NETWORK is your NET WORTH.

Analyze what you have been doing and evaluate whether it has helped you or hurt you.... Then make the proper adjustments.

What up Trezay,

I am Bajan,
I have been in the U.S since my youth.

I got into the Game, and even though I have not landed that deal as yet, I know its coming.

We just keep on working hard at out craft and being creative in our music making.

Keynote!! I was led to your site one day and was very surprise that my Bajan people had embrace the hip hop music so well. Seriously, we thought that we were the only ones from home that was rapping. When I heard You, Poundas and some other cats doing it, we were very impressed. Look J-Burner is my cuz and I know that music has always been in our family. Your deal may not come in Barbados, look at Rihanna. Sometimes you may have to take it elsewhere and then come back. I am so excited to here what you guys are doing there I can't wait to come back. You guys are very talented and hopefully we could meet up one day and bless the mic together. Don't give up player, success may be just around the corner.

Just heard about ya boi from poundas, sorry man may he rest in peace. Let's carry on his legacy.

Yo BLOOD do not put down your talents for them pussyholes out there.Keep up the fight to show them that hip hop culture is part of them no matter where the blood line coming from..Barbados trez never change you see most of the artist you might see on the beach if still exisiting. We were are still is top number one artist tradionally to our culture and I see ablack woman giving a white man atkinson an award now his father if he said he born which idoubt is no bloodline to us genuine caribbean but them put him up in front natual born artist and we all went to primary school every morning to get beat by a headmaster to sing the bullshit national anthem bout hills daughter and sons what a brain washing shit.Next thing trez any youth failing, having doubts, and going to batty boy jailhouse is cause of the same people there destroyed the other who do not suck up for the other who will.
Why I will never think to approach home for movie production they give me nothing the white man casting team will come get more cooperation and help tan me I know those people thats why I do not look back
