WHEELCHAIRS, MMA, & THE HOW & WHY I DO IT”

I Pray in JESUS Name, that this Explanation is well Received and does not Offend Anyone, I will Humbly share my Passion as a MMA Fighter and hold my Words of Prideful Remarks. As I have been asked Many times HOW & WHY would anyone in a Wheelchair ever choose to be a Mixed Martial Arts Fighter, All I can say is because GOD is Good and said I Could…

“THE WHY I DO WHAT I DO IN THE MMA”

My Name is Don “WHEELS” Sitters, I Fight -4- Christ as an Anointed Fighter -4- HIM… I am a Seasoned MMA/WC (Wheel Chair) Fighter at 45. I’ve fought many times over 30+ Years! A Cage, a Ring, or on a Mat, Im Game. At this point I have Nothing to Prove to Anyone, just to Myself… Why Do I Fight MMA, GOD has Blessed me to Inspire People, in Wheelchairs and Many Others that their Lives are far from Over, that Life is just getting Started. This world will make a Fighter out of Anyone! There is nothing more rewarding than a MMA Fight Demo at a Children’s Hospital, seeing smiles of Hope on kids faces!

I Fight as a Light Heavy Weight at 205lbs and will Fight anyone willing to take it seriously. I am a MMA Fighter in a Wheelchair, I’m not a Broken Person nor Do I Feel I am Disabled. I started Judo, Boxing and Wrestling, when I was young so I had some skills before my MX accident at age 13. As I continued my Martial Arts Journey in the Wheelchair, I noticed my past training and the Many other Arts I was studying that
allowed me to put together different aspects of each ART and develop what I would need to make it as a MMA Fighter, which is exactly what “MIXED” Martial "ARTS" are ALL About! And I’ve been blessed to have Great Instructors, Trainers, Coaches, n’ other Fighters who believed in me and invested their time, heart, n’ passion in me to help me reach my goals.

Don’t be a POSSER there are real MMA Champions out there who are the real deal.
“I Don't Claim to Hold any Titles nor Do I Claim to have any Win-Lose-Draw Records”

I do have 3 Belts, 1st one is for the Mid-West Regional MMA/WC Wheelchair Demo and the 2nd Belt for the American MMA/WC Light Heavy Weight Wheelchair Division Expo. Both are for Demonstrations as they were NOT Sanctioned Fights. And the 3rd Large Black Belt was a gift for the World WKU Hall of Fame, and YES I am in it.

THE HOW I DO WHAT I DO IN THE MMA”

No Disrespect to other MMA Fighters, but most Fighters will treat me like a Fragile piece of China. Trust Me, I will let you Think that and use it to my Advantage… I fight at 205lbs and as a Light Heavy Weight most of my Competition Stand between 5’10” to 6’2” so when I’m in my Chair I’m only 4’7”… When you throw a Punch you will be Reaching down with your Head up and handing me you Neck, if you Kick and I catch your leg we both Roll… I’m NEVER stationary… I have been pushing this Wheelchair for over 30 years, so don’t underestimate the strength of a person with a Physical Limitation, if we lack in one area we will make up for it in others. I’m a Counter Fighter who waits for my opponent to move first and then I can take advantage of the situation. I do NOT use my chair as a Weapon, It does intimidate fighters, It torments your feet, and I use it to pivot the Fight to the Ground. Most Fighters and Promoters will only do Demo’s as they see the Wheelchair as a weapon! I have an OK ground game using Hammer Fists and Elbows to use the Ground and Pound, I would rather submit my opponent with a Choke, a Triangle, the RNC, or a tight Guillotine. Working pressure points and Joint Manipulation, if I can Control my opponents position I will look for and find an opening. My Cardio is great and I’ll go 5 Rounds just to prove my Point that you should Never Judge a Book by its Cover. Don’t let the Wheelchair fool you! Win, Lose, or Draw, when it’s All said and Done at the End of the Fight, Remember to Give Thanks to the LORD, as You would be NOTHING without HIM in your LIFE and CORNER. “ALWAYS PRAY FOR YOUR OPPONENT, BEFORE YOU PREY ON HIM”

Much Honor, Love, Respect, n’ Blessings, Don “WHEELS” Sitters

~ Pain is more than just Weakness leaving your Body, its GOD’S way of Reminding you that your still Alive, Well, and Blessed in Christ Jesus Name, Amen ~
