Are you considering doing anything special or nice? We are just curious as to what everyone else is doing??

I am voting then going to a friends house to watch him win. Then, the next day I am going to church and thanking god for giving us someone who has the power to change this country in the right direction. I think I will be on my knees all day thanking god!

And what will you do??! Share with the rest of us!!

I have made plans for when he takes his rightful place in the White House in January 2009. Once this bank mess gets settled, I am applying for a small business loan and opening up my own. Its time to stop working for someone else and work for myself.

Wendy,

that is soooo sweet! I am in total agreement! I voted earlly, but I have been praying ( and anyone who knows me....that ain't me!I wish I was a more spritual person....I'm working on it!) for a change!

I'm an old head and I've seen it all: the 60s, 70s.....up till now! This is history in the making!

This change has been a long time coming, and like you, I am going to give thanks! then I'm going on www.nanowrimo.com and start writing! It's National Novel Writing Month! I got some writing to do!

Take care,
Chitown

I live in a Texas, and I will be praying ind praising The Lord for letting me participate in history. Three generations of my family will be voting TOGETHER. They'll go back to my house to watch the results. I'm an election clerk, so I'll be at the polls untill they close. If they steal the election ( oh, it can be done, ask Al Gore). Then we regroup as a party and work harder. However, the whole world is watching, so no "sneaky pete" republicans. I truly belive a CHANGE gon' come !!! Watch, Fight, & Pray... America

RIGHT NOW I CAN NOT SAY WHAT I WILL DO. WELL I GUESS I WILL CALL MY GOD-FATHER WHO TURNED 89 YEARS OLD A FEW MONTHS AGO AND THANK HIM. HE ENDURED THE CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT AND HE MADE IT. WE ALL NEED TO HUG, KISS AND THANK OUR ELDERS FOR THAT. THEY MADE IT POSSIBLE FOR ALL THIS TO HAPPEN. MAY GOD REST ROSA PARKS, MARTIN LUTHER KINGS AND THE REST OF THEM. BECAUSE THEY STOOD UP FOR SOMETHING AND DIDN'T FALL FOR ANYTHING. YES WE STILL HAVE A LONG ROAD IN HEAD OF US. NOW THAT OBAMA WILL BE IN THE WHITE HOUSE. WE NEED TO GET IN OUR COMMUNITY AND DO SOMETHING TO MAKE IT BETTER. TAKE PRIDE IN WHAT YOU HAVE. TAKE CARE OF IT AND IT WILL TAKE CARE OF YOU. THIS IS A TIME TO GET TO KNOW YOUR NEIGHBOR WHEN YOU SEE THEM SAY HELLO. OBAMA HAS BROUGHT A CHANGE IN SO MANY PEOPLE LIVES. IF YOU SEE SOME TRASH ON THE GROUND PICK IT UP. TAKE PRIDE TO WHERE YOU LAY YOUR HEAD. OBAMA HAS BROUGHT A CHANGE ON GARBAGE DAY TAKE THE OLD COUPLES TRASH CAN OUT. OBAMA HAS BROUGHT A CHANGE, OBAMA HAS BROUGHT A CHANGE

I'm going to celebrate! I voted for him yesterday but I had a bad dream last night that John McCain won the election. Unfortunatley a lot of my dreams come true....it's scarey! I hope my dream was just an awful nightmare and Obama will win this one.

You are not the only african american thats not voting for Obama. My parents are not either. I think it something about folks in Illinois ( central illinois represent). I myself have not decided who I am voting for. If Obama does win though I will say a prayer (quite often) for his saftey as well as his family. He will definitely need it. There has been people already threatening his life and I just pray that God will protect him through all of this.

I would bust out Rob Bass' "Joy and Pain"; remember "Eyes on the Prize"; remember Mississippi Burning; look up videos of Martin Luther King, JFK and Robert Kennedy; think back to when slavery was legal; think back to the Civil Rights era; remember how Frederick Douglass said that EDUCATION is FREEDOM; remember Harriet Tubman; remember Emmit Till; remember Rosa Parks; remember all the past black people and some other races that paved the way for a black man (bi-racial man) to even have this opportunity; remember all the innocent black human beings that lost their lives to senseless violence due to the color of their skin back then and even up to today. "History repeats itself because nobody listened the first time".

I really think I will be so overjoyed and happy that I will just start crying tears of joy. Seriously.

It is amazing that a black man can be our next President. That is awesome, but we also need to remember that he is a human being first. Maybe one day the color of our skin won't have to be emphasized, but now it's a cause for celebration. This man is so intelligent, good looking, charismatic, a family man & on and on.

He has THE CHANGE WE CAN BELIEVE IN. It's time to stop treating other countries like they are dumb asses. We are all different and our differences need to be embraced. It is not our job to Democratize every country & it doesn't work in most of those cultures anyway. We are not cookie-cutter-people. Let's get this cocky Texas cowboy out office and let's get this awesome man in office.

"I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character." MLK, Jr.

Remember The Dream
by James Ingram

You have a choice
Your heart will know
You gotta look back sometime
To know where to go

You have a voice
Long as you live
It's never too small
Whatever you got to give

When your life is low (hold on)
And you want to let go (be strong - hold on)

Remember the dream we had
When there was nothing else
Remember the light that shines
And find it in yourself
Remember the dream is yours
So let it guide your way
And keep it alive with you each day

Don't ever say
You just don't care
the chances you take
Will take you as far as you dare

Don't be afraid
Hold your head high
There's strength in your soul
You never know till you try

When your life is low (hold on)
And you want to let go (be strong -- hold on)

You're not alone .. somebody cares
(Hold on ...be strong)
When you're walkin' the road
With those who been there
(You're not alone)

Remember the dream is yours
So let it guide your way
And keep it alive with you each day.

It would be very emotional for me. I might even cry. Obama will be the first elected black President of the U.S. I really do believe in this man. He's not God, but he does represent hope and a much needed change for our country. Also, it would say a lot about the attitudes of Americans. It's not about race anymore. It's about the content of the character.

And you know, it's not only about race, but just to have the Democratic Party take the White House back would be such a big relief. I do not trust the Republican Party at all. Our economy is in shambles! I understand that Obama is not going to change things overnight, but he will get the U.S. back to where we need to be.

There is only 1 MIZZ & I know you do!

The first thing that I would do is definitely jump up and down & probably cry in excitement as it would be a natural response.

After the excitement I will grab my two boys and explain to them as I have been since the day that they were born that ... "There are no Excuses for a for a lack Excellence" .... If you set your mind to it, hard work and as long as Mommy has breathe in her lungs you will succeed....And then I would hug them and tell them as I have always instilled in them that the world expect great things because of how high Barak has set the bar ...It's beautiful!

I remember how mad i was 8 years ago when bush won and this for real vindication. I am proud of his campaign I am going to go out to make sure he focuses on the poor. He keeps saying middle class like we fall anywhere in the middleclass. So i hope people read this post and part out the word that there is no middle class there is only the rich and poor......

I will do my best to treat others as they would treat me but wht the hell is wrong with people just the next day i thought road rage would disassemble its self , NOT ! No matter what happens on this earth people still act the same damn way ! Just like when 9/11 happened we all felt lose we all felt sadness. Unless something like the Movie Will Smith portrayed happens to us we are all going too act as we do selfish independent users of life !

I was driving in New Jersey and I was in the correct lane to have the right of way and low and behold some jerk cut me off because he wanted to be ahead of me ... Wake up People Its great that we have the first Black President Elect along with his family who seem Beautiful ... What is it as a people will we be will we try and understand when some one steals from you literally the Republican house has stolen from ALL AMERICANS ! NOW WHAT JOBS ARE STILL BEING LOST...

OUR PRESIDENT ELECT DOES GET THE SEAT UNTIL AFTER JANUARY WHO AND WHAT WILL YOU BE UNTIL THEN !

maybe that is the problem...people expect immediate change (preferably balcks) just because we have a black president...Bush had 8 years to mess up this shit he put us in so yes some people are still going to be pissed and stupid and road raging...all you can do is continue to do better as a person...there is still going to be crime and dumb ass people on this earth that will never change regardless of who is the prez...

(responding late...but i had to respone)...i cried because i thought i lived in a world where black people would never be able to show just how great and wonderful we are as a people...sure we have some who slip up but what race doesn't it only matters or stands out when a black person does it...now hopefully this amazingly historical moment will motivate our people to do better and be better...so that we can have many more extra-ordinary black pResiDents...
