Marcus Ibarra

Our dearly beloved son, Marcus Anthony Ibarra, born February 21, 1988 went to be with the Lord February 26, 2009 at the age of 21. He is survived by, parents Robert and Gloria T. Ibarra; brother, Jason Ibarra; niece, Kayla Michelle Ibarra; girlfriend Eva Rachelle Apolinar; grandmother, Jesusa R. Tristan; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Manuel and Maria Ibarra; uncle, Rudy Ibarra; grandfather, Juan G. Tristan; and cousin Stephanie Mae Marmolejo. Marcus graduated from Southwest High School in 2006. He was a self-taught guitarist who made music his life. "Marky" loved to play rock and roll with his two best friends, Buddy and John. Marcus touched and changed many lives during his battle with leukemia by exhibiting courage, strength, and faith despite the challenges brought on by his illness. Marcus achieved many goals during his short life. He toured with his band, performed on stage in front of thousands, met well known musicians, and traveled to places that he had always dreamed of visiting. Most recently, he traveled to New York to celebrate New Year's. Marcus courageously lost his battle to leukemia due to complications. The family would like to extend their heartfelt special thanks and appreciation to his girlfriend Eva for all the love and support she gave Marcus during his illness and family, friends, and co-workers at Southwest Research Institute for their tremendous support. They would also like to thank Dr. Steven P. Kalter, Dr. Berkowitz, the loving and caring numerous doctors and nursing staff from oncology 8 south at the Methodist Hospital, and Ace Foam.
