I was pretty sure I posted a blog while we were on tour. In fact, I know i did. and now it is gone. It was a really long blog too...damn!
Well, we just got back from tour a couple days ago. It feels good to be home, and not so good to think about the fact that classes start this week.
The shows with John Nolan were great! Hanging with him and his wife Camille was a lot of fun. Can't wait to get on a stage with them again sometime. We played with them on their song 'Til Its Done To Death'. John was one of my biggest heros when I first started playing music, and I feel like he is an integral influence to who I am now. I've seen Straylight Run 7 times. It was crazy to be playing drums and look up and see John playing right in front of me. I feel like I did a decent job not letting my fanboy side get the best of me, but I definitely was ecstatic to play with him every night. Sorry in advance to all my friends at home, because that's all I am going to talk about for the next couple months.
Here's the vid...
We're currently resting and recharging. We're also researching how to make a better rig for erica so I can not have to play a lot quieter and she can be louder and have feedback reduced over all. We had some great shows on tour, but we still had sound issues. And everyone who tours knows...you can NEVER EVER EVER count on the sound guy to have even touched a soundboard before the show. No joke. Sound guys are as a whole the most ignorant and stupid people in the world. I do not say that because I could do better (although i definitely could in some cases....), but seriously...it's not like you are flying a jet or spaceship, but a smooth flight makes you a whole lot less sick than a bumpy one.
Haha, so maybe i've got a little bit of old-cranky-bastard in me too!
Other than sound issues, we're very excited to get back to work getting the record together. We'll start recording it in October with Lucas Oswald, and hopefully have it out by spring. We're sitting on 15+ songs, and working on new ones all the time!
We're playing a festival in Topeka, KS in October, as well as a few other scattered midwest shows. Hopefully this winter we'll hit the road again, and possibly just stay there forever.
Also, i'm obsessed with Bon Iver. Check that album out, and prepare to be amazed.

Oh, here's another vid, of our song "Granite Gardens". Check it out, and thanks to all our friends that jumped up on stage to help us out!
