Hark!
With the new year, Touch Committee Worldwide brings you word of their new album!
Completed throughout the previous year of Ought-Eight, this is a culmination of the band's past four years of hard work and many a tasty beverage.
Clocking in at three quarters of an hour, these dozen songs take you on an emotional journey from coast to coast and all points in between.
Behind the facade of topics as diverse as public transportation, serial killing, chopping wood, hipsters, and the Civil War lies the story of how people relate to each other, and facing your own mortality. Heavy shit, right?
These glistening slabs of reality are served to you on a platter of guitars, lots and lots of guitars. To continue the food metaphor, its really like a guitar Hofbrau.
Production and knob-twiddling was handled once again by Jack Shirley at his Atomic Garden Studios, nestled safely deep inside East Palo Alto, California.
The album as a physical product is in its final stages of completion, with art finalizing and an album title to be drawn from a hat at some point soon.
For the time being, enjoy the three songs posted here from the album.
"Sunshine Suit" - one of the oldest songs in the Touch Committee catalog remains a statement of purpose for the group; a solid castle wall of guitars designed to weather any barbarian seige, all the while pouring the molten oil of Michael Bracamonte's sharp leads over the heads of the intruders.
"For The Union Dead" - One of the mid-period songs hashed out by Touch Committee v2.0, warns of the dangers of history repeating itself, peppered with a delicious chorus and a "Row Row Row Yr Boat" pickle-bridge. Yum.
"Where It Clicks and Meets" - Probably the most literal and heartbreaking song on the record; penned for a student Seth lost a few years ago in an automobile accident. Such is life, there's nothing else you can do save make it sound as pretty as you can by the end.
So there you have it, enjoy these raspberries of our labor; leave a comment about the tunes if you'd like and keep an eye out for a release date and upcoming shows!
