Hello World! I know I know, it’s been way too long since we’ve updated the news but always better late than never. We’ve been working on a bunch of songs this summer and in fact Gabe traveled up to a cabin the Catskills along with his Pro-Tools rig to work on songs without the distraction of the internet or telephones. I don’t know how he survived a full month without communication to the outside world but 30 days later he emerged from the mountains with full ZZ Top beard and a flannel shirt (not just because he is hoping for a grunge resurgence.) As Gabe put it, “Rob, I wrote some sick songs, but even better, if you need me to chop some lumber, I’m a pro.” I can say my bass player is now a man of the world and if anybody needs a lumberjack, we all know whom to go to. Who is the luckiest member of Midtown right now? I’d have to go with a resounding HEATH on that one. Heath will be filling in on guitar for Senses Fail while they’re on tour with two of my FAVORITE bands Saves the Day and Say Anything. He’ll be living a dream to get to watch those to bands every night. While Heath is out with them filling in we’re going to keep chugging away writing songs. I’ve even attempted writing songs and trying to figure out “Garage Band.” I’m no Dave Grohl (that’s for sure) but I think there is some really good stuff in these songs. For those of you who didn’t know I have a small indie record label I started, I Surrender Records and recently signed a band Valencia that I’ve been flipping out about. I’ll leave it at that for now, I’ve already kept my mouth open with excitement to all my friends for the past 2 months and I think they’re sick of hearing my voice by now. Tyler recently got possibly the tiniest pug I’ve ever seen. Unfortunately me being the huge geek that I am I only get about 5 minutes with the dog until my allergies start acting up. When he’s hasn’t been dog walking or working on his Keith Richards moves he’s been brushing up on those blues riffs and song writing too.
