We had a couple of shows with 7 Mary 3 up north last weekend. The shows were pretty good, got to meet some new faces and play some of the new songs we have been working so diligently on for the past couple of weeks. The 7 Mary 3 guys were really awesome and killed it both nights. They are still such a great band and some of the nicest guys ever. They have been really nice to throw a couple of shows our way in the past year. We stayed in Philly with our buddy sean from Bang Camaro both nights. He jumped in the van with us and helped out with the shows and was also a big contributor to the naming of the new van, Black Mariah! Thanks to all the Twitter "van name" submissions!
We managed to get to Ortley Beach early enough to get some beach time in and go check out the board walk. It was like the fair on the beach. It was there that my love affair with fried Oreo's began, if you have never tried one you're missing out big time.
Things we saw on Ortley Beach, NJ:
Burnt Yankees

Jaws
a sweet sand castle with one of the best moats ive ever seen
millions of little jelly-esque balls that had washed up
The singer for Jimmys Chicken Shack?
Pizza slices that were literally bigger than a 2 year old
a man dressed up as "a terrorist" letting people shoot him with paintball guns
a lot of people not from Ortley Beach, NJ
Ortley Beach was interesting to say the least...
The following week we played in Wilmington, NC at the Soapbox with American Aquarium. I had never heard them before but was pleasantly surprised when they hit the stage. There were a lot of people there that had seen us at the House of Blues shows with the Avett Brothers in Myrtle Beach, S.C. It was by far the best show we have ever had in Wilmington so im sure we will be going back really soon. If you ever go to the Soapbox you have to go to Firebellys next door. They have burritos that will blow your face out.
Tonight we're in Myrtle Beach for about a 2.5 hour set, perfect for trying out all of this new material! The record is shaping up better than any of probably ever expected. The last few weeks have probably been more productive than ever before, the songs are flowing out nicely right now and we are really really excited for the new material, hopefully you guys will be too.
We just locked in a couple of dates with Drivin' N' Cryin' in NC and SC including a Music Farm show in Charleston! We cant wait! Be sure to go pick up the new DNC record as soon as it comes out. And if you havent already, go pick up the new NEEDTOBREATHE record "The Outsiders" NOW!!!
Its out and its phenomenal.
Thats about all ive got for now. Im working on video to post but i got this new video editing program that is proving to be much more challenging than i had imagined. If anyone wants to tutor me on Final Cut Express ill give you like $3.00.
