I have battled with veganism for a while now. I keep trying, and keep failing. I don't know why it is so hard for me, but I am giving it a real honest shot. I guess I just half-ass it most of the time. It is just becoming more and more real  to me lately. I don't know how I didn't see it before. After going to Costco and seeing the Stingray skin bags, after being bombarded with information on this years terrible Canadian Seal hunt, after hearing about how even the honey bees are struggling for survival, I mean, my eyes are opened. All the way. I have been troubled with vegetarinism for a while... I mean it's a hard concept... how can one agree with rape, but not murder? I love being a vegetarian, I love cheese, I love candy, and I love handbags, but I can't do it anymore. I went shoe shopping yesterday, and upon picking up a rather cute on the shelf pink leather pump, I touched the outside of the shoe and thought about crying. Who in the world sacrifices these animals lives for a fairly useless pink pump. The answer? I do. I buy a lot od designer handbags. I buy a lot of expensive shoes. The only thing that makes those products expensive is the fact that these poor little guys are killed and brutalized just so I have something pretty so carry to the mall. I can't do it anymore. I'm giving it a full effort. I'm taking these materialistic animal products out of my life. I won't buy ONE MORE handbag with even a leather strap. The guilt just kills me.

As for food, I am starting slow. UCLA has always warned me with the way my body works veganism might be impossible, but I'm going to try, slowly. Eggs are the first to go. I have never liked them by themselves, but as for baked goods and such, I am a total sucker. Wish me luck, and I will let you all know how this pans out health wise....
