Rosanne Cash, The Low Anthem and Mike Doughty Headline

Society for Ethical Culture Tuesday, December 8th at 8:00 PM New York, NY — Celebrated singer-songwriter Rosanne Cash, Providence-based Americana trio The Low Anthem and New York acoustic folk artist Mike Doughty will perform at The 5th Annual Holiday Cheer for ‘FUV Concert on Tuesday, December 8th at 8:00 PM. The concert, taking place at the New York Society for Ethical Culture (..2 West 64th Street.. at Central Park West), will benefit ....New York City....’s non-commercial public radio station WFUV (90.7 FM, wfuv.org). Tickets are $45-75 and will be available through Ticketmaster at 212.307.7171, beginning Tuesday, November 10th. VIP tickets are $250-$500 and include passes to the pre-concert cocktail party. “We couldn’t think of a better group of artists to represent WFUV at this year’s Holiday Cheer show. Rosanne is simply music royalty. The Low Anthem gave us one of the most exciting albums of the year and Mike Doughty breaks new ground every time he releases a CD. They all have different styles, to be sure, but they reflect the musical cross-section that WFUV has become,” said WFUV Music Director Rita Houston. Rosanne Cash has been making music for over thirty years, blending from country, folk, rock and blues to write songs about mortality, love and loss. On her latest CD, The List, Cash interprets the songs her father, Johnny Cash, considered the most essential in the American songbook. A trio consisting of folk musician Ben Knox Miller, jazz bassist Jeff Prystowsky and classical composer Jocie Adams. The Low Anthem recently released their third CD, Oh My God, Charlie Darwin, to rave reviews. Former leader singer-songwriter of acclaimed 90s underground band Soul Coughing, Mike Doughty writes lyrics often compared to the prose of the Beat poets. On his new CD, Sad Man Happy Man, Doughty continues to infuse indie rock with elements of jazz and folk music, as well as spoken-word.
