so, i thought i would work all day today and then i realized that would be totally unamerican.
instead i went to fenway park and, for the first time, scalped a ticket and went in!!!
(since i waited until the game had already started, i got a 23 dollar ticket for 20 bucks from a scalper who was really ready to go home... the same price ticket had been offered to me by someone else for 40 bucks. nonetheless, i seem to have managed, in my revery and slight tipsiness to leave 10 bucks behind for a 4 dollar hot dog, so, cest la vie--someone got a nice tip.)
i was in the 4th row behind the bullpen and so i saw many of the sox hotshots. i had an empty seat on either side of me. it was great.
i think that going to a baseball game, drinking 2 beers, tearing up slightly during the acknowledge-the-military-service-people-in-the-audience-and-sing-god-bless-america portion of the festivities and eating one 10 dollar hot dog qulaifies as a highly successful and all-american 4th of july!
oh, and, of course, the sox won 7-5.
woohoo!
hope everyone else is having a good time.
