Hi there

I thought I'd write a little blog as it's been a while.  I hope you're all doing good out there.

I'm still in LA but moving home to Ireland for good in September.  LA is a wonderful place and gets such a bad wrap.  There definitely is the faker baker side but there is also a very beautiful side to LA that never ends up in the mags.  Lots of wonderful creative people live here, not in Hollywood but up in the Canyons.  It's well worth visiting if you ever get the chance.

I was sent a script to read a few weeks ago with the view to writing some songs for the film.  It is such an incredible story and I can't believe it landed on my lap.  I'm gonna give it my best shot, I guess that's all one can do!

Still writing songs for my next album, looking to release it in October.

I can't think of anything else to report.. oh a bird shat on my head today while I was having breakfast!!

Yes I'm scraping the barrel

Gx

I've always felt your music was ideal for film.   There's so much emotion and life in your music, and in end it can create images that play perfectly in the mind.   On several occasions, I've played your music as an imaginary soundtrack to the play I'm currently writing.  Thanks for the inspiration...good luck, I'm sure the music will be fantastic

Good luck with the new songs. It's always a bitch birthing new songs, but (I guess?) worth it, in the end.

Cheers,
k

Snap, birds do the same thing in NZ, and on the same day. But you got to look on the bright side, lucky it landed it on your head not in your cereal.

Looking forward to more stuff! Still have the last one on high rotation.

I think LA can be cool too.  A long long time ago I spent the summer working there and ended up lodging on Venice Beach.  There was a hostel that was right on the boardwalk which had sand as the floor of its indoor bar - very cool.  And visiting the Observatory after seeing Rebel Without a Cause so often was great.  Sometimes an unreal kind of place but not always in an unpleasant way.  Gemma your music is lovely - and my kids love it too - keep writing and singing - you have people here depending on you!

Good news about the forthcoming album...hopefully this means gigs. And maybe "Oliver" on CD instead of the nebulous ether that is iTunes?

Home just in time for my birthday then! Do you get to perform the songs for the film as well or just write them? It's supposed to be good luck when a bird shits on your head, I don't feel any luckier though... Looking forward to October :D xx's
