...and noise and people and beer.

It's begun or rather it has continued in San Francisco. Host having transformed into the The Blind gate after it made the trek across the country. Why I changed the name, I don't know, maybe I just didn't feel right calling it Host without my old partner Adam. It's been said a name gives you power over a thing, so I guess a new power and a new name was needed. Maybe, it's just nice to start from scratch.

Anyway, the arts education and good times continue. The first of the public workshops have started. The kick off class for Circuit Bending was phenomenal, a packed house with all 13 advanced sign up students in attendance. Dustin / Nisus (San Francisco based DJ) is an excellent teacher. Carmen (360 resident, photographer and film production jack of all trades) made waffles for the class, ritually cutting herself, sacrificing her own blood to appease the low-fi tech gods. Ok, well some might say she just accidently cut herself on the waffle maker, either way it was appreciated.

The students were some of the most enthusiastic I've ever seen. Minutes after the first demo they were cracking open there toys and strange sounds that have been driving parents crazy for years filled the room. I loved watching people's faces light up when they found a successful bend. There were tragedies as well, some machines shorted out or just refused to cooperate, frustrating but such is life. It gives you a better understanding for your next attempt. If your looking to bend something out there, let me tell you about the Hannah Montana guitar, complete with head set. The thing is great. The students working with it had smiles on their faces the whole time.

There are 2 more classes, I'll keep everyone posted with updates and news on whatever group project/event the class decides to do.

The next workshop coming from The Blind Gate and 360 studios is an Urban Exploration, Photography and Photoshop class. It will consist of a group meeting at The Blind Gate and going out on expert guided hikes of the hidden wonders of San Francisco. We take our camera's with us, take pictures and go back to the warehouse where we review the photographs and take part in Photoshop tutorials. Of course, not all of that happens in the same day. Message me if you would like more info on the workshop or would like to sign up in advance.

Well that is all for now, here's some pictures of the C.B. workshop. I'll post more when I get them. Thanks to Calvin who taught Circuit Bending in Knoxville and thanks to all the 360/354 warehouse residents who helped out and of course thanks to Nisus and all the students.
