Birch tree and shrub collaboration with wind Friday February 6th (approximately 2:47pm) Local neighborhood in the state of Oregon
They got off with a bang! The whistle/hum of the shrubs gained immediate strength and attention at the forefront of this composition, but this act is only to prepare you. The preparation starts to seem needless after the first 2 minutes until it begins to happen, the faint sparkling sound.
Your ears perk. You look all over and try to find it until your eyes capture the force responsible. A charmingly tall and abrasive birch tree growing and moving with an unbelievable amount of poise and self-assurance. It’s remaining bark of the season appears to be crying or letting out a small bit of laughter as the wind tediously pulls and pushes the bark away from the base of the creature. This sound placed in between the feelings of being in mourning and the mindset of days you hope for rain but end up getting a sore throat. It also gives us an audible account (and reminder) of change, my favorite element in existence, all while showing a newfound presence in the performers, which is incomparable to any other performance I’ve heard in this New Year.
