Last week Saturday I came home from work and started to feel a little bit achy and tired. I decided to take a nap and when I awoke an hour later, I winced at the horrible pain I felt in my left breast. I quickly realized that had developed a breast infection. I knew this because not four weeks earlier I had the SAME THING. Now, I had been having cough, congestion, runny nose and a bad headache since the night before which I attributed to allergies. Whatever this other stuff was, combined with the breast infection to become this super-illness giving me the worst migraines with nausea, fever between 99.5 and 102 degrees and a continuous dry cough (Oh yeah, and I decided that it was time to dry up so throw in the nasty engorgement with breasts that have to be G cup.) Since I recognized this awful crap I immediately called my doctor and had him call in for some antibiotics. He suggested "binding my breasts." My lactation consultant suggested using cabbage leaves. So here I am taking antibiotics that leave a god-awful taste in my mouth while I'm already nauseated, advil and tylenol for the fever (which isn't going down), a cold pack on my head and I look like DOLLY PARTON with a WAY too tight sports bra and cabbage leaves sticking out everywhere. Four days of this misery and I finally had enough. I went to the doctor. They felt that I needed IV antibiotics. I waited FOUR hours for the home health people to come start my IV only to watch them try and try again for a total of six times (folks, I'm an EMS instructor and I watch brand new students do a better job than this woman did.) The WHOLE time this woman's phone was ringing and she kept answering it. That aside, on the way home, my scalp started itching REAALLYYY bad! I looked at my face because it was feeling weird too, WHOA! It was swelling up and turning all red because I am apparently ALLERGIC to IV Vancomycin......nice.
I am not just writing this to relive my last week of misery, I want a pat on the back, I breastfed my twins for 6 months. All the while, I had bleeding, cracked nipples and pain of course. I am awesome and that's that.

go Adrienne! I think I've caught whatever cold-thing you have. It hit today, and I came over to blame you in person but you were sleeping.
