Hey my friends....

You probably thought I'd fallen off the face of the planet. Well, maybe down a flight of stairs or something. Of course, some of you are wondering, "you were gone?!?"

Time for a confession. I'm around. I'm just not here. My online social presence began here with MySpace a long time ago. It's been a great place to meet new artists and connect with fans. After all, that was MySpace's initial goal, before it was co-opted by the teenagers! Now, however, I spend far more time on Facebook and Twitter than I do MySpace. Part of the reason I'm not here so much is that MySpace is so noisy. Every page is an assault and no one reads the pages, they just look for the buttons they know are somewhere. Some of the friend requests I get....... just..... wow..... Anyway, part of MySpace's problem for me is their horrific iPhone app. I spent an hour composing a blog entry (yeah, try it on an iPhone) and hit Post. Yep, you can guess what happened. Gone. Poof. After that, MySpace got moved to the back of the line.

More of my time is now on Facebook. Not that it's a heck of a lot better (no, I will NOT be the 378,492nd person to support your cause!) but at least it's consistent. And my audience can visit my fan page without having to be assimilated into the machine as they do here. My Facebook fan page, similar to what I do here, is: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Audiosyncracy/42724674412

I'm also found on Twitter: http://twitter.com/jameyo. I'm contemplating a Twitter feed for Audiosyncracy but so far I've found sufficient reasons for not doing it.

Finally, there are a few other places I can be found (mog.com, etc) but you should know that I'm serious about this music. I can often be found on the two new age-related "nings," http://newagemusicnetwork.ning.com and http://newagemusik.ning.com (more active on the former).

I don't intend to abandon MySpace; not by a long shot. No, I'll be around, but I hope you'll track me to these other places where I might update more frequently.

The podcast continues apace. I'm up to #42 now, which was a fantastic episode. Grab it if you haven't.

Be well my friends. And stay in touch!

Jamey

I totally utterly completely agree. I hardly ever get on Myspace anymore except to check messages and friend requests. But I don't network here anymore, or explore other pages, or spend time making my page look any different. I too am sick of the adds, sick of the crazy busy-ness of the pages, etc.........I have been on facebook and twitter more (still not great at tweeting, but working at it). At least on facebook, most of your contacts come from people you know not strangers looking to up their friend number.
