The great Nashville-based blues guitarist and songwriter Johnny Jones, who had a more than half-century recording and performing career, died earlier this week. Jones was a major influence on Duane Allman and on Jimi Hendrix, who, along with bassist Billy Cox, played with Jones in the Nashville band The King Casuals. Check out the Casual's tribute to Jimi, cut in 1968:
Purple Haze! He will be sorely missed.
