Ah, November. The kind old lady who ushers you in from the wind that smells of cherry wood, the woman who bedecks you in warm wool and hands you a winesap. The last pleasant face before the cold eyes of Old Man Winter peer over his scythe of ice and chill you to the marrow.
It's a special month for The Flanks. To get to the point, we have put an album together. And to celebrate the release of this album and to thank November, we're going to have a party. Wonderful bands will play, The Defibulators and The Dawnbreakers. And then we will play too. It is going to be on November 18th, Saturday, and it will be at Union Pool at 9pm.
Union Pool is right off the Lorimer stop on the L or the G train, on the corner of Union and the BQE.
There will be a $5 cover. The album, You and Me and the People Who Can't Go Home, will be available for $10. Like the NW chamber of Grand Central, it has 18 tracks of varying length.
I feel like this has just been a bunch of numbers and logistics here. I think a few of us were up quite late last night, little ears glued to the radio and nails bitten to the nub. The point is that it is a hell of a lot cheaper than The Lion King and Julie Taymor will not buy you a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale.
Heck, I don't want to get all sappy here, but it's a special album and a special party. Nat, our beloved bass player who had to move to another corner lot, recorded it with us. Tom Mayer, our new kicker of the bull fiddle, will be there. We'll all stay up late together and I'll end up talking weepingly of the lob-worm.
I hope you're all well, Nick
