we've got a little grab of video from our latest recording session. check it out under our 'video' section.

two weeks ago we packed a shitload of recording gear and got the hell out of Perth - heading down to a farmhouse hidden away in the southwest. if you head south towards albany from perth, get to kojonup then head about 40kms past there beyond Jingalup, you're kind of getting the idea.

the farm was out of mobile phone range and a good 100km round trip to the nearest town so there wasn't going to be much interruption.

it was a great spot. dale took over what had been the lounge room with mixing consoles and computers and paris rigs, tim stacey took over the family room and chris and I put our amps and guitars in seperate bedrooms, all set up for a great recording sound. we pretty much started recording by 10am each morning and rocked through until the early hours each day we were there, minus meal breaks. for dinner, someone would drag out the dining table on the front lawn and we'd all sit around the round table surveying the paddocks and valleys like the (pastoralist) knights of the round table that we thought we were and sloshed down great homecooked meals with sloshes of wine and beer. a banquet experience.

every morning the fella who was leasing the farm showed up at the yards down the hill with shearers and got down to the business while up the hill we were getting on with our own - recording the live beds for the songs. a cliche as it is, no kidding, there's a few songs there that if you listen real close, you can hear the sheep baa-ing in the background as the guitars are done ringing out.

so for three days we immersed ourselves in pretty much nothing else and tracked a bunch of different stuff - eleven songs in all (it goes up to eleven!) and that will be the start of our next release.

I shot the video while I was waiting for the other fellas to sort out a couple of things. Chris can be heard sorting out his tone for the newer song 'Well Enough Myself' that some of you will know. and for those of you who haven't seen him around before, the dude (yeah, he is a dude) walking around the room looking for scotch is Dale Shearsmith, who we enlisted to come help us capture it all. he did a great job too.
