...J.A.Z. the Emcee: a lyrical genius that brings words together in such a way that causes you to rewind or pause. This title comes with much weight and in my opinion shouldn't be given to just anybody. The foe to an emcee would be rapper, somebody who rhymes over a beat and may be saying a little something or nothing at all. This dude however, does not fall into the latter category. As soon as you press play you are a catapulted into a beautiful depiction of rhyme schemes that are rarely heard in CHH/HHH let alone Hip-Hop. An emcee doesn't only lay down verses over beats but allows for the back-ups or doubles to emphasize each line or add that little extra hypeness that you need in a song. J.A.Z does this to perfection. This is probably the first album I heard where I thoroughly enjoyed what was going on in the background of the song without getting distracted by what was going on in the forefront. Each line was perfectly placed, well thought out and effortlessly exercised. You can read on Mr. Justified and Zealous' website that he is worst critic and doing so has paid off…and it also shows that the man takes his craft seriously. From beginning to end your ears will not be let down by the words that he spills. From the rapid and revitalizing "Who You With" to the slow and savory "The Grain" you will not be disappointed that you chose to pop in the "Walk" as you journey through your walk.
