The album represented here by the singer and instrumentalist Dena is rock pop with a decidedly underground flair. Vocally—and probably accidentally—she parallels Jewel, especially Jewel's album 0304. However Dena is a little rougher, in songs like "Watching". In "Empty Place" she integrates her skirt pop style with folk music al la Chantal Kreviazuk, and a nice soothing synthesis results. Perhaps one could say "Mirror" sounds somewhat like a female version of Counting Crows. In any case, the performance includes 15 songs for a time duration of a little over 70 minutes, and all the songs range from average to above average in quality, which is a good deal considering the cost of the CD. I give her 3.5 for an absolutely wonderful achievement, even though, for my tastes I would have liked a few rough corners and edges. On the other hand I would not give Jewel more than 4 points.
