Who Gives Kudos:

Monday, June 02, 2008
I'm still working on the new album and it looks like it will take forever to finish. I have been demoing a couple of songs so there is some progress, even though it's rather slow.
My plan is to have the record recorded and mixed this summer and then released late this year or early next year. But who knows... A couple of songs are getting there and it sounds like the distortion is back. I've been playing through the first amp I ever bought and it sounds great. It's tiny but when you crank it the sound is really good. I used it a lot on the song It's on everything back in 2003. I also started using the Roland RE-201 on the vocals again, something we did a lot on Angel Youth and I can't really remember why we stopped doing it on the albums that followed.
Hmm, playing my old amp and using a lot of distortion again. Am I getting sentimental?

A move back to using the old gear is not a bad thing, but don't worry, you've not wrote a bad song yet.

I remember playing with you guys in Grimsby in-between your fightstar dates and then going back to greg's house. Now i'm the one thats getting sentimental. Bunch of emos.

that's actually good news! going back to "where you came from" is usually a nice thing. i do appreciate your early work and if the new album will sound more like it, then that's cool! if not, then i'm sure you'll be able to use "old techniques" while being able to sound different in a refreshing way.
all in all, it's all "last days of april". bring on the old, bring on the new! :)

francesco is basically not on a diet anymore...

Karl, no rush, take your time and write the best songs possible! In music rushing is almost never good!
Good old gear can't lie, use it!
Ciao,
Francesco

Sounds great. I didn't like the newer songs so much. Sorry. They sounded like pop from every other band to me. Angel Youth is still under my Top 5 LP's, so hearing your using your old amp and stuff makes me hopefully wait for another great album. Now im looking forward, before i was hardly not forgetting the good old LDOA.

So good luck in the process. I'll hear more later.

And once more thanks for some of the best songs that ever reached my ears.

old amp, distortion, and this:

"something we did a lot on Angel Youth and I can't really remember why we stopped doing it on the albums that followed."

have made me very excited. i was giving some music advice and stumbled across angel youth just a few weeks ago. i told my girl to check it out and she fell for it, head over heels. so i started listening to it again as well and really, it's not that might as well live is a bad album, but angel youth had this, well, i don't even know how to call it, but SOMETHING REALLY REALLY GREAT. haha.

really looking forward to this! all the best!
