SWIRL Interview:
DT,
Lead Guitar

SWIRL
- what a whirlwind to rock you! They are tearing it up in the coveted
slot of Opening Band for the currently running RATT - EXTREME tour,
named “
East Meets West“! As far as SWIRL is concerned, their show is a
modern party for hard rocker-metal fans, and SWIRL are only the guests
at your party. (Stay tuned, however, for SWIRL’s plans regarding future
musical crossover experiments!)
….With a chuckle, DT, SWIRL’s
Lead Guitarist readily admits, that he is often reigned in by Producers
and Band mates, regarding how much he enjoys lengthy, showy soloing! DT
cannot deny that he gets swept away in the moment by his passion for
guitar. In fact, he
is a guitar-collector as well, and especially
treasures the models which are tributes to his favorite guitarists,
such as Jake E. Lee;
Phil Collen; - and coincidentally, fellow touring
partner, RATT’s
Warren DeMartini!
Although SWIRL was actually
born nearly 10 years ago, it has weathered the common obstacles that
bands face, such as personal hiatus, and line-up changes. However,
SWIRL have admirably re-launched their music with a hungry vengeance
for it to be brought public! SWIRL is also determined to impress their
peers, let alone their ever-growing population of fans. Simply put, DT
confidently defines SWIRL as what a Band should be.
In
particular, RATT’s Frontman
Stephen Pearcy, continually praises,
supports, and mentors SWIRL; they seem to have “what it takes”; and,
SWIRL appears to be within reach of success. Additionally, there are
other SWIRL supporters, such as Carlos Cavaso,
Fred Coury, and
Bobby
Blotzer. These veteran-professionals of great repute also include in
their support of SWIRL, special studio advisement regarding production,
mixing, and more. Impressively, the roots of this supportive circle
originate in loyal, meaningful friendships that have existed as long as
19 years! Without question, the members of SWIRL have been and continue
to pay their dues but do it with such genuine humility that they are
also earning the respect of their touring partners, as well as assorted
other music colleagues. Furthermore, as the old-s
chool Headliners put
it, a tight set that runs on time in its slot, is only further evidence
that SWIRL is the right choice as the Opener for RATT and EXTREME.
Speaking
not only of being impressive, SWIRL also impressed the Phoenix Show‘s
audience. Despite SWIRL being relatively unknown to the crowd, this
Band drew forward front rows of newly and quickly won-over fans, who
were more than happy to say so! These music-lovers had nothing but
praise for SWIRL: They described SWIRL as a band which composes quality
music, demonstrates musicianship, and ultimately, sells this
SWIRL-package to the audience with an undeniably captivating,
powerhouse energy!
Finally, when asked which bands SWIRL would
be thrilled to open for in the future, DT answered with a range of
interests: Creed,
Alice in Chains, and
Buckcherry; even the legendary
KISS. However, the brass-ring slot, in DT‘s mind, would be to tour with
none other than current hit-makers, NICKELBACK!
