Hello All!
What an exciting few weeks it has been!
First and foremost Thanks to all the talented artists on Broadjam.com for the great response to When Did Hell Freeze Over - written with my amazing and talented friend Liz Miller.
As of this writing, When Did Hell Freeze Over is the number one song on the entire site, regardless of genre. It also holds down the top spot in both the country and contemporary country categories!
Also on the national charts is "twenty Toes in the Sand."
I continue to get great advice and feedback from some very knowledgeable music people!
Enjoyed a few days in Nashville this month and particularly enjoyed visiting with Barbara Cloyd, legendary hostess of writer's night at the Bluebird Cafe. I appreciate her encouragement and help very much. Also enjoyed spending time with Dan Keen at ASCAP and appreciate his kind words and advice as well.
Thanks also for the ears and support of Driver Williams of Jody Williams Music, one of Music Rows most reputable publishing companies, as well as legendary Atlanta Rhythm Section producer (and Bama fan) Buddy Buie. Roll Tide Buddy!
I was thrilled to be one of only 300 in attendance when Kenny Chesney kicked off his "Road and the Radio" tour with a limited admission, small venue performance in good ole Alabama. I got to meet and hang out with several RCA and Sony/BMG label types ...and of course pitch them on my music!
I was also thrilled to meet and visit with Sawyer Brown lead singer Mark Miller, who took in a Bama basketball game with mutual friend and Bama hoops legend Jim Farmer.
Music wise
Continuing to enjoy working with Nashville producer extraordinaire Chip Martin. So far, we have wrapped "When Did Hell Freeze Over" and "Twenty Toes in the Sand" (co-writes with my buddy Liz Miller), and Maybe Jesus Was A Cowboy, a really cool song with a strong Christian message.
Both "When Did Hell Freeze Over" and "I Want me A Cowboy are Gretchen-esque redneck girl rockers and have recently been pitched to Katrina Elam, Wynona, and Trick Pony among others. "Twenty Toes" is perfect for Tim McGraw, Kenny Chesney, Phil Vassar, Alan Jackson, and any number of other male singers! "Maybe Jesus Was A Cowboy" would work for Tim McGraw, Trace Atkins, etc...
I was happy to be the featured songwriter in last month's issue of e-magazine at Indieisland.com. Thanks to my buddies and fellow writers Dave and Jay for making that happen!
Finally, I would like to thank the various writers who have contacted me through NSAI (Nashville Songwriters Association International) to inquire about co-writing. You guys are a talented bunch and set a very high bar. I am very flattered by your interest and look forward to writing some hits!
