***
LA OTRACINA "Gardens Of Blackness" CD-R (Colour Sounds Recordings 037)
A CD-R version of the now out-of-print cassette released last year on the Digitalis Ltd label. Adventures in psychedelic sound collage, improvised meditations, and sky-soaring ambient textures of LA OTRACINA's boundless sonic universe. 3 songs, 21 minutes, professionally printed CD-rs and full color inserts, limited edition of 50!

Review from Womblife Blog - "This one features really beautiful bombed out psych folk, massive Hawkwindian distorted squalls and grooved out West Coast bong boogie with optimum cosmic transport capacity via its magnetic aural environs. And it's probably my favorite tape of '08. These boys have figured out the secret psychedelic formula, alright."

Available for $8 US/$12 World

LA OTRACINA "Blood Moon Riders" CD-R (Colour Sounds Recordings 038)
A very limited edition run of the CD-R version of the recent LP released on the Holy Mountain label.  Incredible instrumental space-prog meets psychedelic free-improvisations, featuring the 2007 line-up of Adam Kriney/Evan Sobel/Ninni Morgia.  5 songs, 40 minutes, professionally printed CD-Rs and full color inserts, limited edition of 100!

Review from Raven Sings The Blues Blog - "La Otracina, wasting no time between releases...In true form the band continues its mastery of ethereal space rock, stretching billowy clouds of smoke over a terrain of formidably pummeling rock. The band, always a stunner live, has begun to seamlessly translate the expansive qualities of their work to the studio environment. Their ability to further the current generation of "prog" beyond mere nods to forefathers in the krautrock and psychedelic scenes is unparalleled, with the band folding elements of free-jazz, surf, and ambient music into their sound...a band so deeply entrenched in layered sonics and prog revelry."

Available for $8 US/$12 World

LA OTRACINA "Woven Wanderers" CD-R (Colour Sounds Recordings 039"
BRAND NEW STUDIO ALBUM! Yes, these sonic spacemen have just finished yet another studio album, this one channeling yet even newer ideas into their boundless sphere of psychedelic transmissions! Quite different from their current live show, this new studio album swirls between worlds of cosmic psych-folk meditations, 70's european electronic-progressive space music, overblown freak-rock improvisation and heavy-dark-brooding sound-collage mind warp! 9 songs, 29 minutes, professionally printed CD-Rs and full color inserts, 1st edition of 100!

Available for $8 US/$12 World

La Otracina hit the deepest space yet!

Yes,once again LA OTRACINA have blasted off into space.  But one of these voyages may be the DEEPEST space probe they have launched yet,...and that IS saying something!

WOVEN WANDERERS is Colour Sounds Recordings #039 and it's the critter I'm talkin' about. La Otracina has made what I've said was closest to an American Acid Mothers counterpart's recordings in the past,.....but now this is something else.  Laid back and spaced pieces reign here....most of a nice 6 to 7 minute length. This is deeply spaced ,and floating waves of sound...not too unlike the instrumental cuts from mid-period Hawkwind LPs like "Hall Of The Mountain Grill" and "Warrior On The Edge Of Time",and who could say that's a bad thing? There are changes on the horizon for La Otracina,...and this is a fine celebration of the more "universal" sounds they made when travelling through quieter realms of sound. Well, that is until near the end of this self-released album, when "Moonblazer" takes off on the "lunar" trajectory of "Blood Moon Riders" cut "Zunblazer"(the "zolar" trajectory, you see?)!  This has a more rhythmic take on their cosmic moves. Then the last cut brings us around to Space Metal, that is the most agressive cut here....and takes you back to where your space captains are in control of your flight once more ...firing the engines up once more after enjoying a nice smokey-float on the rest of this great album.  Very highly recommended!

GARDENS OF BLACKNESS is the CD-R version of a past ,sold-out cassette. This is Colour Sounds #037,....and although this numerically comes before Wooden Wanderers,...it more rightly seems to be La Otracina's next step in sound, towards a space-metal mix.  This short 20 minute set is pretty fantastic in it's own right.  "Land Above The Sky" has a middle-eastern organ sound with tumbling drums leading to the heavy vocals(over strummed acoustic guitar) that are coming to fore as the La Otracina sound mutates into a sort of Stoner Rock unit.  A cool ,dark ,and quasi-mystical sound is revealed here!  Things get all fuzzy and extreme in the song's center, then float into a deep darkness with sinister tones taking over at the tunes end. A nice varied mix!  Emerald Energy is a tranced-out meditation that could have been on the "Wanderers..." Cd just mentioned, four and a half minutes of fine hazy floating! Finally "Mass Monolithic Mind" is one of those "Maggot Brain"-like cuts that come along all too infrequently in a lifetime!  It's a beauty of echoed, soulful guitar tones ,...and it's played ,like Mr. Clinton told Eddie Hazel,..."Like you just heard that your mother died..." ,in other words beautiful and sad,....until the drums burst in for a moment near song's end for a surprise synth conclusion.   A great little taster of the heavy-ness to come...with some other angles explored too!

So,like I've said before....grab these up now.  Either to celebrate the La Otracina you now know,....or to get that taste of "heavy changes" comin' down your way in care of this band's ever evolving sound.  Both ways you can NOT lose. Now just hang on for the evolution revolution ........
