L.U.S.T. - Self-Titled
Going down under we find yet another new Australian band called L.U.S.T.. I have to say there seems to be a strong rock movement with bands like Tonk, Mandi Jarry and Fallen Silver poking their heads out of the underground bush of late and getting good reviews in Europe.
L.U.S.T. are fantastic, crisp clear production sound courtsey of Peter Northcote, with superb vocals and playing from all the cast. The band as you can gather by the name play a mix of rock, punk and glam which kicks off with the utterly fantastic 'Little Devil'. This song is a driving arena stomping rocker with tons 'woahh, woah's' in the chorus, and what a chours it is catchy hell. The guitars are crisp yet raw and gritty and the whole thing is just ace reminscent of Spread Eagle and Babylon A.D.
Australian's can't go by without showing some AC/DC influences and the next song 'That's Rock 'N' Roll' showcases just that, especially in the guitar department. Once again this track is catchy, a little more melodic with grittier vocals. I can just imagine the band jamming this in a basement somewhere (picture the Rockstar movie scene), the song hints influences a'la Faster Pussycat, good time fun track with fantastic vocals.
'Get 'Em Out' shows a southern blues edge at the start. The song kicks up some dust with wicked guitars licks from Ronnie, this track goes for a more Gun's N' Roses, Love/Hate, Freak Of Nature vibe and is a little rawer and grittier but shows how diverse and excellent L.US.T. are.
'Eaten Alive' is simple rock 'n roll, you get the feeling with this track that you have heard it all before, but it doesn't matter as it's cool and catchy glam/pop/rock, a little more in the Poison vein. Last track up is an acoustic ballad called 'Stay With Me' which has a similar feel to Warrant, think 'Sometimes She Cries'. Another excellent song with fantastic vocals.
Overall this five track EP keeps you craving for more, so come on lads, get a full CD out, you rock!!
