Dear Del Toro fans,
As always Camp Del Toro is a veritable hotbed of activity and adventure. Here are a few things that have happened recently:
- Thanks to 4ZZZ, Del Toro and Turnpike spent an intimate weekend together at Airlock Studios (The Grates, Powderfinger, Giants of Science) and recorded one song each, to be released as a split 7" in April/May 2007. (For the kiddies - a 7" is a vinyl record).
- Del Toro's track "Conquistador" placed #59 in the Triple Zed Hot 100; and we didn't even send a myspace bulletin asking friends to vote for us, pretty cool huh.
- Del Toro plan to record their debut album in April 2007, possibly with the awesome Casey Rice, to be released through Valve Records.
- Del Toro's tunes will soon appear in a student film by Jock Thompson that probably no one will ever see.
- Del Toro's favourite record company CEO, Paul Curtis, will take a handful of "Formicae" CDs with him to Canada and the States in March to get the ubercool US indie labels sniffing at us.
- Adam Del Toro will travel solo to California in May to talk about insects at the university; hopefully he can catch a performance by our rival band, "the real" Del Toro, in L.A., and also squeeze in some desert time.
Adios, Del Toro
