Chicago has got to be one of the greatest cities in the world... in the summer!  Everbody knows that winter sucks, but Chicago summers rule!

Have you been to Chicago?  If you have, leave a comment with your favorite Chicago summertime thing...

Things I miss about Chicago in Summertime:

1) Belmont/Sheffield Music fest kicks off my summer and snarfing a large Polish hot dog from a hot dog vendor who looks like an Elvis impersonator, the tubby jumpsuit era.
2) Getting reeeeeally drunk at my favorite neighborhood bar and weaving my way home on a nice summer night.
3) Street musicians. Little pockets of musical cool and utter atonal weirdness at times.
4) Watching the guy who dresses like Jesus carrying a 12 inch cross on his back pass by while eating some ice cream at the outdoor seating at the Bobtail Ice Cream Shoppe.
5) Indulging in a little pakalolo on the lakefront with some friends and a cool wind flies in from the lake on a early evening.
6) Drinking really cold beer at the Double Door when it's muggy inside watching the B Brothers groove their funky-badass selves.
7) Helping friends who are in bands break their set down, hauling amps and cymbal stands and cords to their van and then having a smoke outside in the alley while people walk by thinking what cool motherf*ckers we are.
8) Watching the faces of out of town Cub fans while walking in the middle of Boys Town ("We're not in Kansas anymore Toto...")
9) Eating a greasy burrito at Big Horse while an avant-garde post-punk band experiments with feedback aaaalll night long
10) Women. Their hip huggers get lower, thong strings higher and legs get longer in summer somehow.
