Breaking News: The Alarm Tour Rescheduled until April 2010.
Hello everybody,
After much consultation with our family Doctor and the consultants at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital I have taken the regrettable step of rescheduling this November / December's 'Release The Pressure' UK Tour by The Alarm until April 2010.
(Tickets for all shows will remain valid for the new dates which are listed below except Hatfield which has been switched to London Islington Carling Academy).
Two weeks ago, my wife Jules was diagnosed with a deep vein thrombosis which was further complicated by the unusual fact that the blood clot is high up in the abdomen. As if that wasn't bad enough, she is also suffering from a mystery viral illness (contracted whilst in Africa during the Love Hope Strength Foundation charity climb to Mt. Kilimanjaro), which has raised her CRP (inflammatory marker), to 500 when it should be less than 5.
Jules was taken ill on October 20th and last week she was transferred from Glan Clwyd, North Wales to the Tropical Disease Unit in Liverpool and kept in a special isolation suite on Ward X. Over the last fortnight, she has been very poorly dealing with not one, but two serious illnesses. The specialists anticipate that she will still remain in hospital for another week at least, and then once she reaches the stage to be discharged, will still need to undergo a further 3 month convalescence period at home.
As you all know, Jules has a very important role in the management and structure of the Alarm's touring logistics and It is very important for her long term recovery that she be protected from the pressures that a full scale tour brings and allowed the space and time to regain her health completely. As a husband and father, it is also my duty to be at home to care for Jules throughout her recovery and be there for our two boys Dylan (5) and Evan (2).
I'm sorry if this unavoidable move causes inconvenience and disappointment but I promise that the tour that will happen in April and will be well worth the wait!!!! The Gathering in January will still go ahead as scheduled and I will be posting further updates about Jules recovery at www.the
alarm.com as and when we have any news of import.
Jules and I would both like to thank each and everyone of you for being so understanding and for sending in so many messages of support during these most difficult times.
Jules is truly overwhelmed with all the emails popping up on her iPhone. Each email has been read and cried / smiled over and Jules promises to write to everyone personally as soon as she feels well enough to snap open her laptop. She is now the proud owner of 2 surgical stockings... one on each leg to prevent any further clots while she is spending so much time in hospital.
Please feel free to submit any questions on the
alarm.com forum where I will endeavour to answer them all personally.
Love hope and strength,
Mike Peters
