With the 2008 Beijing Olympics winding to a halt like a Tiananmen Square protest after the Type 59 Armoured Tanks arrive, it seems only fitting to recap some of the more obscure events that, while somewhat overlooked, added to the overall flavor of the Games.

1)     Deflecting attention from John Edwards' affair and potential love-child.
2)     Embittering Mark Spitz:

3)
Falun Gong Self-immolation (exhibition only; no medals)
4)     Smog Put Field Event
5)     State Suppression of Speech-athalon
6) Horrifying Compound Fractures Medley   Beanball!
7)

7.5)  Lead-based Kiddie Toy Relay
8)     Confusing John McCain
9)     Women's Beach Volleyball ('Cuz deep down, I'm a pig.)

Kerri Walsh:  She can volley my serve any day.  R-R-R-R-R-R-R-R!!
10) Protester Head-crack Freestyle

Thanks for reading--see you at the 2010 Winter Games in sunny Vancouver, where the real sports will be played!  Curling, anyone?

I was just at RR, thinking, when is Soy going to get his own word press and start doing what he does best. Writing. Not that I expect you to replace Bagel, just because she is irreplaceable and we'll never be able to get that back unless she decides to show up one day, but sometimes it's not the blog itself but the people who show up there. You're a good writer, Soy, and I enjoy reading most of your stuff, so go ahead, jump into it, start blogging a blog. I just don't seam to fit in anywhere. That's what was so special about you guys and the guests you hosted. Thanks.

Thanks for the kind words, guys! I have a musical project in the works, some films and I'm getting back into writing for magazines, so I don't know if I'll have time to get into blogging like I used to. Now that I have to get a new vehicle, I have to concentrate on making money. It's good to know I have people who appreciate my blogging, though. Thank you!
