The Valentines Day Massacre, which was actually held on Friday the 15th was excellent! We want to thank Kev, Chris and Leila for hosting all the madness. It went down a storm and luckily there wasn't much damage and no police presence which is always good. We had a 7 ft high PA system, two 100 watt amps, a big bass amp, a drum kit, a DJ booth and a light show. I cant believe we got away with it.
The Line-up was.
LYONS
EL PADRE
ROSS CLARK & THE SCARFS GO MISSING
BEATAMAXX&SOBBY DJ SET
HASEEB DJ SET
Lyons were first on, they took the stage about half 10 and got the party started in a great fashion. The crowd were hitting out with a whole lot of head bobbin' and chorus sing-a-longs! Every song was met with a roaring applause from the half cut crowd.
Their set was,
Silhouette
Sapphire
Social Call
Cold Century
We then got all our gear set up and got started. Sobhan took charge of the lights and made sure he kept everyone on their toes with a mix of strobes, lasers, and every other trick he could pull out his sleeve. I always judge a show by how many people were dancing, and there were a whole load of people all cutting shapes so we were really happy with our performance.
We played,
Thinking of your Health
Lucky Streak
Miyajima
Monsters in the Blue.
Next up was Clarko and his Scarfs....
The dancing crowd continued to jive away to the sounds coming from the bands. Adam from We Were Promised Jetpacks joined them onstage for a brief shambolic cover of "Quiet Little Voices" which seemed to go down a treat.
The set was,
Hopeless Romantic
Milkman
Brainback
Quiet Little Voices
Silversword.
A now highly intoxicated Rainbowsheep (with Fearg and Ross too) bashed out "Insects and Leaves" and a yet another quite shambolic cover, this time it was TV On The Radio's "Wolf Like Me" It was a spur of the moment performance but that is how the sheep like to roll.
After everyone had a good 20 minutes to booze and gab Sobby and Beatamaxx stormed on and took no prisoners. They banged out tune after tune after tune and with the strobes and lasers back in play everyone was going mental. There was a swift DJ turnover at one point, so swift that I didnt even notice that it had happened. The 2nd DJ, Haseeb hit out with an equally impressive set untill everyone was danced out.
Definitely party of the year so far. We plan to do a few of these things a year and we have already started working on the next one. It will be in a forest!
We will keep you posted on the goings on of that one...
(Oh....and Natasha, we all saw you taking photos. Let us know when you have uploaded the badboys)
