"Have a prosperous New Year!!!"
But what does prosperous really mean?
According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary prosperous means:
1. auspicious; favorable
2a. marked by success or economic well-being
2b. enjoying vigorous and healthy growth: flourishing.
Growth. Flourishing. Hmmm….I was reading a friend of mine's book Acts of Faith by Iyanla Vanzant which provides daily affirmations for mind & soul. And for December 24th it talks about this very thing; prosperity and being a prosperous person. This is what it reads:
Prosperity is living easily and happily in the real world, whether you have money or not.
-Jerry Gillies
If you have many things you are not free to come and go in life, you are not prosperous. If you have things to do and protect that you think others can take away from you, you are not prosperous. If you are not comfortable with yourself no matter what you are, you are not prosperous. If you believe others can take our ideas, you mate, your things, you are not comfortable. Prosperity is a state of mind. When worry or fear crowd your mind, you cannot be prosperous. If you know you will eat even when you don't have a dime, you are prosperous. When you can love and give all that you have, you are prosperous. When you do what you love without pay or reward, you are prosperous. When you do what you can because you can, not for money only, you are prosperous. When you love all people for who they are, not for what they can give you, you are a wealthy being. Prosperity is a state of mind.
The richer I think, the richer I am.
Every year we put ourselves through so much trying to define our own prosperity. A lot of us haven't realized that it is not in the physical. It's not the '07 Dodge Charger sittin on 24" rims, not the $450 Indian weave- none of that! It really is just a state of mind. And I've come to realized that now in all the decisions that I've made within the last year. Whether they being mental, emotional or financial, through the friends I've lost and gained. To be happy and comfortable with yourself is apart of living. It's time to start livin' y'all…
Happy 2008!!!
