Current mood:  excited

Just wanted to drop a few lines about our recently-completed, DIY west coast tour.

Our first stop was Austin TX where we did an impromptu set @ Red Gorilla Music Fest, chatted with Vampire Weekend, and battle rapped a band from Japan. The scene down there was nuts. It was the Bonnarroo for hipsters and I’ll say one thing for the Converse wearing-pierced and tatted up-tight jean cats, they love to drink. Luckily for them, so do we!!! From there we were headed to San Diego where we had three shows in 5 days. But first we had to trek through America’s own Sahara Desert, Arizona, where tragedy struck and we blew a transmission in Yuma. We ended up flirting with a group of old women and partying with some guys who are building the Wall, as in the border to keep the Mexicans out.  Then the next day, ironically enough, a guy named Pablo did some very speedy and very reasonably priced work and we were off

San Diego was awesome. Good beaches, good shows, and for some odd reason everyone there bought us drinks. We stayed with some friends who I must shout out - GINA AND KATIE KICK A LOT OF ASS!!! Next was LA. We partied on Sunset Stip and Santa Monica Blvd, gave Bud Bundy a CD, and saw so many Mazeratis, Lambo’s and Ferraris. Gotta shout out one more couple who bought us a couple hotel rooms, barbecues with us, and sold the shit out of some merch - KEITH AND MISSY YOU GUYS KICK A WHOLE LOT OF ASS!!!

On a side note ----We had a show in Orange County, which is only 15 minutes east of Laguna Beach and in homage to MTV, stopped and partied there. It was o.k., I kept asking people where Kristen and LC were. No one thought it was funny, they just thought I was poor.

Phoenix has a really awesome scene (THANKS FOR SHOWING US AROUND, GARNETT). After our show @ The Ruby Room, we headed to another show, saw a band who just played SXSW, then kicked up a beatbox/freestyle session with them after the show. Everyone be on the look out for What Laura Says Thinks and Feels. They’re really great guys and make fucking amazingly innovative music.

Our gig in Santa Fe got double booked so we partied in Albuquerque instead. Albuquerque is a nice little college town. Nothing fancy, kind of like a Murfreesboro with sand and palm trees.

All in all, we drove 5300 miles, played 9 shows in and around the Southwest, and put a dent in our pocket books. We booked and promoted the shows ourselves and got major love from strangers everywhere we went. Its good to back in Nashville with a west coast tan.
